Would you say you're enjoying having hens more than when you started the thread? That, my dear sir, is exactly the analogy I shall henceforth use when describing the lengths to which I’ve gone to keep predators and rodents out. Brilliant!

Yes we went this morning, straight to cafe for fab cake and tea, gotta get in early as queues are horrendous .I hadn’t realised you were actually going today; we should have had a beer together. Yes, it was fantastic - we came away with a dozen plants and bought a sculpture which we’re expecting to be delivered any minute. Did you enjoy?
The run is hand built from scratch. The coop is this one (with the addition of auto opening and closing doors):

Missed this thread when it started….well done on your venture …a customer of mine had chickens and i spent half the time of my scheduled visits trying to recapture the fekers….your henhouse/enclosure look top notch …have to say i wasnt keen on clipping their wings either..or cleaning out the muck….however the eggs were definitely far tastier than those i boughtYep! Yet again, the good doctor her indoors was right.

Any chance of some pix of your chix?
I'd say they are poultry and not particularly threateningI don't like it when neighbours get chickens here, it can be a dangerous game.
Nice. Good luck with the chicks!
It's from a Maran Hybrid, I have a better picture of the eggsNice. Good luck with the chicks!
What breed of hen lays the speckled brown egg in the foreground. Very pretty egg.

£9.25 for 20kg is cheapAn irony you may already be aware of, chicken feed isn't that cheap,
Don’t chickens just eat bugs and grubs and their own shit?£9.25 for 20kg is cheap
All depends what quality of feed you use.
Chickens need pellets to have a balanced diet - optimal nutrients to be able to grow and produce eggs, otherwise you'll have a very high death rateDon’t chickens just eat bugs and grubs and their own shit?
