Look, don't laugh, but on July 17, the Friends of Blaker's Park are having their annual Summer Fair. I am manning the 'cracked crockery' stall, which is basically a stall where you pay a few sheckels to throw wooden balls at rows of plates, bowls, cups, toilets, basins etc. Just for the sake of hearing and seeing them smash.

My nominated cheridee is the Forty Notes Fund. Anyone fancy coming along? Anyone fancy helping out? At the moment, there is me and, umm - well - just me so far.

For those that don't know, Blaker's Park is sandwiched between Stanford Avenue, Preston Drove, Cleveland Road and Southdown Road.

I may take a swift walk up from under the viaduct to have look
I like this renewed community spirit in the Preston Circ St Johns parish area.

Think most people on here will be at the Albion open-top bus parade.

Or on holiday :(

ah, blakers park, i always get their newsletters through my waldegrave road front door. I read with keen interest about their doings. i never actually bother to go and see any of them though.
HOWEVER, as it is for the forty notes fund, IF i have nothing else to do, I will go and smash some plates for a couple of minutes on the 17th.

I love blakers park, it has a fenced off area which dogs can't go in so you can play football safe in the knowledge that you will fall in a load of dog shit. good idea. :)

CONTROVERSIAL POST ALERT

The Forty Notes fund is hardly a charity is it?

Give the money to Cancer Research or something really worth while!

Ah, but I could use that argument and say

Don't give it to Cancer Research, give it to the homeless
Don't give it to the homeless, give it to Oxfam
Don't give it to Oxfam, give it to Greenpeace
Don't give it to Greenpeace, give it to Scope
Don't give it to Scope... I could go on.

But I take your point, and I will donate some funds (I have no idea how much this stunt will make) to REMF. Other than that, Forty Notes it is.

yeah i'll jump on the anti-forty notes bandwagon and argue that it should go to a local charity or hospital. The big charitys you mention above TLO get enough money but the little local ones dont! Screw the Albion for 5mins and think of the local needy!

Was hoping nobody would spot that. :jester:

Okay, honest answer. No ALAN, I don't want to go to your SHIT thing. It sounds crap and GAY. I'll only go if I can throw plates and cups at YOU.

If only because it's an everyday occurence for you, and therefore not something you need to pay for.

Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!

And there was me thinking you were being all compassionate and stuff, and that you had a favourite cheridee which you did a lot of work for, but didn't want to talk about it. OK, I'll throw it open, anyone suggest a local worthwhile cause...?
