Nothing official but the use of a past words list is acceptable and visiting here before you play each day is not.

Bad luck, I thought I might be in for my first defeat today.

As @Papak just mentioned, consulting a list of previously used words is generally accepted, although some of the purists disagree!

No phoning a friend.
No using a 'help with wordle today' things.
No 'five letter word finder' or 'anagram finder'.

But I would hazard a guess that you're not doing any of that!

I had a look at a previous word list after I'd finished and seen the other comments on here today - I still had at least another one to go that wasn't on there - so it's not the be-all and end-all. But can definitely help.

I wasn't aware a prior word list was available until very recently and haven't used it or any other aide, preferring to live or die by my own ignorance or brilliance, depending on the day!

It was only when I became aware that many others did use such a list that I too succumbed(willingly tbf)

Today is a perfect example of where I now think it is justifiable. My starter today included three of the correct letters(one in the right place) but the presence of those three and their potential combinations meant I was very confident that I knew the last four letters of the answer but I had at least five possibles for the first - my first two choices(I learned) had been answers before. Whilst some lottery element remained it at least gave me a fairer chance.

Thats my theory anyway and I’m sticking to it!

Not for me, it’s cheating but it has become acceptable for some reason. Getting a better score is my guess

It’s like asking to go through the discarded pack to see what’s left in cards! Good luck with that in a card game.
