There is no reason why we can not aperate in an ideal world.

The regular away fans can even pay the administration fees.

The club will not do it though, as they do not want to piss off the fair weather fans who they hope will fill Falmer.

Nah, that's only an incidental element of their thinking. The main reason is they don't want to bog down an under-resourced ticket office by setting up and operating an eloborate priority system that will only be called into use for a tiny number of our 50 games this season.

In the future when we have Falmer maybe, but we can't bother with stupid little luxuries like this at the moment.

Surely it would make their job easier because the applications would be staggered.

i.e.

Monday, Season ticket holders and/or people who have been to 6 or more away games.

Deal with them, get them out of the way.

Then

Wednesday/Thursday General sale for away members.

They'd better hope these regular fans are still here when we get Falmer.

But they know they will, because unlike most businesses we give out custom, we won't and can't go and support another football team.

The thing is Richie, how many staff hours would it take to set up a system whereby you could check your six-game qualifying thresh-hold? How many staff hours would it take laboriously checking the applications as they came in to see which qualifying category they come under?

You have to accept the reality that we run a very small ticket office at the moment because it is set up to sell the very small amount of general sale tickets for Withdean not taken up by ST holders.

Our ticket office is therefore placed under incredible strain when you have one-off events happening like Cardiff or these big cup ties.

They struggle to even operate the transparent first-come, first-served system 100% efficiently and it is perfectly understandable if there has been a few mistakes in processing ticket applications in the wrong order they came in.

To burden our ticket office EVEN FURTHER with more complicated priority qualifications is just pie-in-the-sky.

Get real about what infrastructure we have in place at the moment and just support the few guys we have in our ticket office doing a difficult job and let's all not try and make their job ANY MORE difficult.

That's right. They generally operate under the assumption that fans like you and I won't throw gay hissy-fits if we miss out on a ticket once in a while.

got my rejection letter and got my seagulls ska CD in the same post :( & :)

Me too.

I am not sure how to feel, I got my application in on the 8th. Guess it was delayed in the post. Postal application is not the way forward.
The club need to sort a telephone or internet booking system.

I do not blame the club, and I am sure things will improve in the future, but regardless, due to our fanbase there is always going to be dissapointed people, in a way, thats a good thing because it shows how much support we have.

Perhaps a fairer system would be to accept only applications with a stamp and postmark on the envelopes. I sent mine off in the post on the morning of the 7th before the prices had been officially announced and I still got nowhere.

Accepting postmarked envelopes rather than those stuffed through the shop door or handed in over the counter would at least give a decent chance to those regulars living outside the area or those like myself who are unable to get down the club shop due to other commitments.

I got my application in within hours of it being announced and I missed out as well. :(

The only way to get tickets for the big games in future is to apply before they annouce ticket prices and enclose a blank cheque.

Funnily enough, the old time I ever missed out at the Goldstone was when we played Spurs in the 1977/78 season; I guess Spurs are my bogey team when it comes to getting tickets.

It's a bit of a choker for me as I'm long-standing season ticket holder (since Gillingham) but I'm not going to get worked up about it - it's Christmas and there's plenty of things to be cheerful about.
