..in Turkey. Thinking of a trip in October but want somewhere that's decent generally if it's not sunbathing weather. Not Italy though, too expensive for this trip.

Won't be sunbathing weather around Oct. Go to the Canaries. I've been to a few parts of Turkey but not that part.

Fly into Antalya, go to Belek. Should still be warm enough in October

Stayed with a friend that lived in Antalya around 10 years ago. Not an awful lot there back then as a holiday destination, a few bars and restaurants, but no idea how much it may have changed by now. Am going to Turkey on Sunday for 2 weeks and flying into Antalya as it happens, but not staying there.

Stayed in Belek which is near Antalya (fly into Antalya) in early October and the weather was glorious!

Temps around mid 70's and the sea is still reasonably warm. Stayed in an All Inclusive, didn't venture out much as not alot to do.

Worth doing though as pretty cheap!

I’ve got a friend who lives there.

Not much in the way of touristy type things but the Turkish government really rate the place.

They get a lot of sports events and the world stages of the triathlon is held there. They also have a bike race goes through there, a professional basketball team and they a good football team who play in the top division.

If you go to the harbour on a Sunday, they quite often have companies down there advertising and give away freebies. Baseball caps, t shirts and the like.

You will find plenty to do there but not from tourist information web sites.

Cheers. We've decided to stay in Antalya itself... got a very good deal with Thomson on a package at a well-rated hotel where the flights are effectively free. Thought by being close to town, if the weather's not all that then we can have a mooch about. Just reading that some nasty terrorists have exploded a couple of grenades on the beach nearby but, hey, that only adds to the excitement I suppose :jester:

Went to Antalya in November last year, Really enjoyed it not being the 'busy' season. We took a trip for a couple of days up to see Pamukkale.

Not roasting it was low twenties but pleasant enough. And the harbour and castle we're brilliant, We took a boat trip which was well worth it.
