The advantages are that it is smaller, faster and a lot less prone to security holes as it is not built into the OS. The main disadvantage for me is that people NSC signatures appear left justified rather than centred.

To be fair, Firefox is more standards compliant than IE - chances are that the centring is a quirk of IE's rendering of HTML that developers have come to rely on due to the fact that about 95% of people use it...

I use Opera 7.54.
