Not tonight Josephine.

Last saw them at the...wait for it...Assembly rooms in Worthing of all places!

They were f***ing immense. Lemmy even did a request for me.

Ha ha, I saw all those Worthing shows, shit, they were the loudest I've ever heard them. Managed to get a couple of the tour posters from the signwriter in Worthing who did them.

Not tonight, unfortunately. I saw them when they were at the Brighton Dome a few years ago, with Saxon supporting them...one hell of a gig, one of the loudest i've been to.

Yep , three of us off in about 30 minutes time . Always a mini festival when you see Motorhead these days .Last year was Anti Nowhere League and the UK Subs , previously in Southampton it was The Damned and Girlschool. Last time in Brighton I beleive it was Mike Munro .

Seen Anthrax once already this year . Last time I saw them as a support band was to Metallica on the Puppets tour.

Back then we used to get decent bands playing the Assembly Hall. Now it's all tribute acts or fossilised relics slapping on their syrups and doing a comeback tour.

I saw them at the Assembly Rooms a couple of times, back in the day.
Was the Bomber tour, one?

I'm not a big fan but friends were, and it was always a cracking night out.

No, they were a while after the Bomber tour which was 1979. The shows at Worthing were in '87 and twice in '89

Had a ticket to see them in 2003 in Hammersmith, but it coincided with a new g/f's birthday, so didn't get there. As things turned out, I should have gone :lolol:

Perfect.

I went once with a school friend in '87.
His Dad came and picked us up, moaning about the noise from the car park next door.

Then once in '89. I was drinking Barley Wine and 1080 cider snake bites, and off my face.

A lot happened in those intervening 2 years.

Brilliant gig as usual . Apart from the usual , Metropopolis ,Killed By Death , Ace of Spades and Overkill , a very varied set with likes of The Chase is better than the Catch and Dr Rock as well as 2 Thin Lizzy covers . No Bomber , no No Class , No Iron Fist .......but what the hell , my ears are f***ed and will be for the next few days .Piss poor turn out from the locals for Anthrax , especially as it was their first time in Portsmouth. Can't help thinking if that had been the Centre or the Dome it would have been rammed . Now we seem to be on their circuit again , I kind of think we will get the honour of Motorhead next year .........Can't wait !!!!!! punk:

The Motorhead Christmas show? Did that also feature Andy Williams and the Osmonds?

And 2 off Another Perfect Day! That was a suprise, thankfully no Brian Robertson in leg warmers though. No cheesy harmonicas, acoustic guitars or Mikkey with a cymbal attached to his knee. Are you Ready seemed like an odd one to do at the end, Overkill, class as always.

It was my first tme with Anthrax, they were great, want to see them again, and get some of their stuff. Only got Bring the Noise on a compilation LP, any reccomendations?

Definatly the first 5, but based on last night the majority of songs were pulled from 'Spreading the Disease '(Madhouse ) and Among the Living' ( I Am The Law, Indians Cought in a Mosh) , so those two are essential . They played a couple of covers that they have made their own . Antisocial by Trust , which is on the State of Euforia album and the Joe Jackson's Got the Time from the Persistence of Time album. The rest were newies . I was particuarally interested in the Ronnie James Dio song. Might buy the album just on that . Also good to see the original singer Joey back, although to be fair he has been back for the last three years .
Seen Anthrax many many times over the years headling in the early days , or more recently at festivals .
If you want fast track on their stuff , there is a good compliation called Madhouse . All my Anthrax stuff is on vinyl , basically that cd has all the essential Anthrax on it .Alternativly get hold of a live cd or DVD. Big Four in Bulgaria is highly recomended. You get Metallica , Slayer and Megadeth on that as well. .............Then it's up to you.
