I can tell you that whilst the US has more room it has similar problems. Unfortunatly tollerance is in far less supply than it is here, and it's across the nation as I know from experience in both the North East and the Mid West.

However, the Yanks are far quicker off the mark at deporting aliens which is something we're too PC to do.
