Another ebay question (sorry) - international buyer

I have a relatively new account and have 100% feedback currently.

I've had an ebayer purchase an item off me buy it now for £89.95 + £50.00 international postage. They have paid in full by PayPal.

However, the buyer has 0 feedback and has only been a member a few weeks - and is based in Greece and has an unconfirmed address.

I have doubts as to the legitmacy of this individual - am I able to cancel the transaction without repercussions (i.e. negative feedback) and how do I stop myself from potentially being seriously out of pocket?

f***ing eBay :annoyed:

PS. I deliberately overcharged with a 'blanket' international postage cost which I considered very high (£50.00 for a 4kg parcel) to deter dodgy international buyers and they paid it anyway. Having checked, the item will cost £35.91 by international signed for post including £500 compensation according to the painfully unreliable Royal Mail postage calculator. Am I better just sending it that way, refunding him the difference and hoping for the rest?

If its International Signed for post then you're covered aren't you? If their paypal address is unconfirmed then that's a drag, but if they've paid I don't see too much of a problem even with 0 feedback. I'd be more worried if they were based in China/Taiwan as they're a pain in the arse posting to, so I no longer send there. If they were going to do the dodgy thing and claim they didnt receive the item and try and get a refund as well will be negated by the signed for postage.

As to cancelling the sale you'll have to send a cancellation request to the buyer stating the reason and they'll have to approve the cancellation. Since they've paid in full that might be a little more tricky than if they hadn't.

Firstly, if you do not want to sell overseas you should not list your item with international availability. As you have done the deal, you cannot really back out, not quite the done thing in the eyes of Ebay.
I have sold a number of items internationally, including a satellite receiver to a buyer in Central Asian Russia with no problem and he was a newby with 0 feedback. Everyone has to start somewhere!
You should be fully covered provided you send by a reliable signed for service, Ebay will always back you if you can supply proof of delivery
You do not specify the item you have sold, it maybe something that is hard to obtain, or unobtainable in Greece like a working sewage system that takes toilet paper; )
May I suggest for your international shipping try interparcel.com or parcel2go.com they purchase wholesale from the main international carriers and resell at an advantageous price, they also pick up from you.

If he pays through Paypal and you send via a signed for service you have Paypal seller protection, so you should be OK. (if the Paypal address is verified and you only send to the Paypal address)

If you don't want to sell overseas, simply edit the listing to make this so!

If it makes you feel better, I've sent stuff all over the place recently, including to Taiwan, with no problems.

That's probably put the kiss of death on the lots I'm about to post this morning  so if you're in Australia and waiting for an old Albion home shirt, that you bought yesterday, sorry about that :D
