sickens me, was up my mates in Mile Oak last night watching the Arsenal game and he told me he got a visit from some Animal Welfare group stating that someone in the area was leaving poison in puddles and cutting cats whiskers off
First reaction of mine was a brick through his window then onto breaking the bastards legs!

I absolutley despise animal cruelty and if I ever catch anyone doing one bit of harm to an animal I'd go mental at them. They do get the odd jail term but having researched it on the net this morning most get pathetic fines or "not allowed to own pets for 5 years" type crap....

My opinion is that anybody who can harm animals can also do the same to humans and thus I would put them in a concentration camp.

Jerry's country & western cousin used them for banjo strings. But i doubt that's who we're looking for here.

There's no denying this is a horrid act, but i do sometimes wonder about our selective morality when it comes to animals.

STUDENT KILLED KITTEN IN ROW
A MAN killed a kitten when he threw it against a wall after a drunken row with his girlfriend, a court was told.

Harvey Anderson, 25, a student, hurled the white kitten seven feet though the air when his girlfriend Melanie Schmidt threatened to leave him, Brighton magistrates were told.

The animal, just a few weeks old, suffered two fractures of the skull and brain damage from the severe impact as it hit the wall.

It died soon afterwards, said David Buck, prosecuting for the RSPCA.

Anderson, of Goldstone Villas, Hove, admitted causing unnecessary suffering to the cat.

The court heard he also picked up three other kittens and dropped them on the floor and threw the mother cat at his

girlfriend.

Those animals escaped without injury.

Mr Buck told the court Anderson had drunk four pints of lager in a pub and later exploded in rage when his live-in girlfriend told him she

wanted to end their relationship.

He said: "He became very angry. He picked up the kitten and threw it underarm about seven feet and it hit the wall.

"He picked up the other kittens and dropped them on the floor, then he picked up the mother cat and threw it at Miss Schmidt."

Sue Lenier, defending, said Anderson bitterly regretted the incident. He had never been cruel to an animal before.

Anderson is now back with Miss Schmidt and his girlfriend spoke up for him in court and asked for them to be allowed to keep the mother cat.

Miss Lenier said Anderson had been seeing a psychologist and had stopped drinking.

She said: "He feels real remorse."

Miss Schmidt told the court: "He was devastated. Our cat is looked after brilliantly. She is a lovely cat and we love her to bits."

The case was adjourned for four weeks for reports.

Mother who cooked the cat
by Rebecca Stephens

A mother-of-two could face jail after she microwaved the family cat when one of its fleas bit her on the leg.

Nadine Trewin, 31, faces up to six months in jail after she admitted cruelly ill-treating the cat.

Trewin had drunk seven cans of lager and almost two bottles of wine when she was bitten by a flea and became angry with Sasha, a female tabby, Horsham Magistrates Court heard.

Sasha jumped into the microwave and Trewin closed the door, causing the power to switch on automatically.

Trewin, of Adelaide Close, Langley Green, Crawley, who was not in court, said the animal was inside the oven for less than a minute.

When she opened the door, the six-year-old cat was not moving and she tipped it out of the window. It was later buried in the back garden.

Trewin confessed to a friend two days later during a telephone call.

David Buck, prosecuting, said the cat had suffered substantial injuries and some of these, to the brain, were consistent with being microwaved.

Trewin's friend, Stacey Passmore, told the court: "She said she had killed the cat in the microwave. She said it was an accident.

"She also said the cat's fleas had bitten her on the leg and that the cat had jumped into the microwave.

"She said that when she realised what had happened she opened the door but the cat didn't move. The cat was dead.

"I was shocked by what she had told me. I thought about what I should do and I decided I had to contact the RSPCA and tell them what had happened."

Trewin was interviewed twice by Inspector Mike Garrity of the RSPCA.

She admitted killing the cat on March 23 last year and gave the inspector written permission to exhume the body.

Trewin originally denied the charge but yesterday her solicitor, Paul Luttman, said his client was changing her plea.

Mr Luttman had argued Trewin's interviews with Mr Garrity should be ruled inadmissible because his client had not understood her right to legal advice despite telling Mr Garrity she was fit to be interviewed.

Deputy District Judge Kevin Gladwell rejected the claim. The court heard Trewin was depressed at the time of the incident and was taking the antidepressant Prozac.

The court heard evidence from psychologist Doctor Jan Falkowski, who said Trewin's mental state at the time was in question.

She was granted unconditional bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates Court for sentencing on July 23.

She could face six months' imprisonment, a fine of £5,000 and be banned from looking after animals.

After the hearing Mr Garrity said: "I think justice has been done. It was a brutal act. Neglect is generally over a long time, but this was wanton cruelty."

Cat's use whiskers to determine their own width.

If you cut a cat's whiskers it thinks it's slimmer than it is and as such can try to squeeze through tight gaps and will get stuck.

Cats whiskers are always the exact width of the cat's body.

They 'try' gaps in fences etc by putting their whiskers in. If they feel the edges touch the whiskers then they know they cannot go through.

So by cutting them, the cat loses one of it's sensory perceptions. Not particularly dangerous and they will grow back but still a cruel thing to do.

Cat found butchered
by Phil Mills

A cat has been found butchered close to its home.

Miriam Binder discovered four-year-old Titch by the side of her house in Hamsey Close, Whitehawk, Brighton, on Saturday.

The cat had been cut from its throat to its stomach.

Miss Binder, 46 and a volunteer community development worker with eb4u, the Government's regeneration programme, was shocked.

She said: "My first feelings were that I wanted to hang draw and quarter whoever was responsible but then I wondered what sort of life they have to be able to do that to an animal.

"What view of life do they have and how much do they value life? It is very worrying."

Miss Binder had to break the news to her three daughters and her six-year-old grandson: "They all loved Titch. He was part of the family."

Other cats have been killed in Whitehawk in the past year.

Crumble, a 13-year-old tabby, died six weeks after being attacked in October with a sharp instrument in Wiston Walk.

Earlier, two cats were found with their heads cut off on the estate.

Police and the RSPCA are investigating the latest attack.

Anyone with information should contact the Brighton and Hove police incident management centre on 0845 6070 999.

ps
"This Sunday the band Good Riddance will be playing at Manchester University and before they take to the stage the band will lead a PETA protest against KFC: Sunday, 28 March at 12.45 p.m. outside KFC, 131-133 Portland Street, Manchester. Fat Wreck Chords Europe and PETA2 have been on the road with Good Riddance and at each gig there has been tons of information about Animal Rights and on Sunday you will get the chance to meet Russ Rankin of Good Riddance to have a chat about Animal Rights and Veganism. Please join Good Riddance and other PETA activists for this important demonstration and help us to get KFC to stop boiling chickens alive in scolding tanks, breeding birds to grow so large so fast that many suffer from crippling leg deformities, and many other abuses. For further information about the campaign, please visit www.kfccruelty.co.uk/. PETA will supply all the materials necessary for the demonstration, all you need to bring is yourself! Please also forward this email widely to friends, family and colleagues and try to bring as many people as possible with you."

bloody good point redders actually thinking about it, I mean I eat chooped up cow, fresh fish, chicken etc......but that wont make me turn vegan! I'd never eat cat or dog though which is why I'm so insensed at this I suppose, liking cats has something to do with it too.

As for Good Riddance then fair play to them, great band (wish i was gonna see 'em this week but cant) and have their beliefs and try to spread them like alot of punk bands do whether its through human rights, political views or whatever, Its the straight edge bastards that annoy me. Snapcase for one...preached to thousands of people at Decon how we should'nt do drugs or drink alcohol - its was 3pm on a saturday and most people we're already half cut :lolol:

Feeble excuse. Why would a cat jump into a microwave on it's own accord?

I remember hearing that Bill Oddie became a bird watcher and conservationist after he's killed a bird with a sling as a kid and was horrified by what he'd done. Most sane people learn like that as children. The one's who don't and continue to violate, mame, torture and kill animals for fun are the same sick sociopaths who would do the same to you or I given half the chance. Lock them up and throw away the key.
