Whing didn't travel to Portugal because of concerns about his complexion. FACT.

Taken from the Seagulls website: Poyet added, "Whingy is under contract, and we are not trying to force him out, but he understands the situation and I have told him it will be very difficult for him to get back into the team.

"We agreed it would be better that he stayed at home, in case of any developments; he is a great professional and a good man; he hasn't caused a fuss and has got on with things."

Sounds like Poyet clearly rates both Calderon AND Kishishev ahead of him in that RB spot.

I can't imagine Whing is Gus's biggest fan having been both denied a trip to sunny Portugal, and a place in the match-day squad against his beloved Villa earlier in the season. :lolol:

Are you actually suggesting Gus will play the Swindon game without a GOALKEEPER!?
I am also pretty sure you have to nominate a captain on the pitch as well.
Come back when you have grown a brain.

You IDIOT.

Not forgetting no striker... I'm assuming it will be some sort of 4-6-0 formation.

Some valid points raised although the thread has become a bit obscure.

Any proper Brighton fans want the team to do well and this season the expectations are higher than for some time.

Despite the number of people giving it the "in Gus we trust" line - it isn't as simple as that as he will be judged on results (and performances) as much if not more than any other manager.

Some of his decisions do seem unusual and I sincerely hope he achieves the success he strives for as if not then 4 years is going to be a very long time or it could be 4 months before he may not be quite so trusted by the masses.

Let's hope it turns out well and we are all happy but often in life it ain't that simple.

As for Whingy I personaly think he's been given a raw deal and hope he get's a good move asap

Getting back to the original topic of this thread, namely MR. ANDREW WHING ESQ, I'd make the following observations ...

Our aspirations have moved on considerably since he came to the club a few years ago, yes l know he was our player of the year the season before last, and rightly so, but things change quickly in football.

As much as l loved Whingy for his swashbuckling, honest, never say die attitude, there is a gulf in skill now, between him and other members of the squad.

ln my opinion several defenders could now do a better job at right back, not only Calde,
but the likes of Kishishev, El-Abd, and young Steve Cook too.

Sorry Whingy, but if it was up to me, along with Harty, l'd be sayiing my thank you's and goodbyes.

Presumably he doesn't fit into the style of play Gus wants. From the little
I've seen of him he's a 100%er, will get stuck in but offers very little on the ball. Fine if you're a blood and guts league one team but we seem to be moving as far away from that as possible.
