Thanks Zed for your well put and aggressive post.

Personally, I don't have a problem with him hating the English, it's his perogative and I put it down to jealousy.

What I have an issue is an international sportsman whose biggest tournament of the year is in London, spouting off in a national newspaper. When was the last time you saw Beckham et al on the front of The Sun saying how much they hate the Scottish and I'm going to wear their opponents kit !

I once had the "delight" of spending a day at a well known tennis club.

Full of upper class tossers complaining about the fact that we were disturbing them (Even though we were making a programme promoting wheelchair tennis - an amazing sport by the way)

Went back there again to make another programme and the tennis was pretty much summed up to me by a young hopeful in the club room.

The England number one (this was a few years ago) went past in his sports car and the young lad commented to me

"that pretty much sums it up, number one in this country but shit at tennis and a millionaire."

His point (at the time) was where's the hunger ? All he had to do was play at an average level on an international basis and he was made for life.

Amyway, my experiences behind the scenes put me off it for LIFE.
