I don't think D'Urso had a bad game

By his own piss poor standards he played a blinder.
If he's a half decent referee why did so many people around me feel the need to groan when they discovered he was officiating on Saturday? I have seen D'Urso ref our games time and again over the years and yes, our record with him in the middle is no different from that you'd expect with any other ref BUT that is despite his presence. He continually gives decisions that NO-ONE else in the ground has seen(remember the phantom penalty he gave Leeds at Withdean, even their players were perplexed by that!) or misses those that everybody else sees. The man is an idiot, how the hell he gets on the league's list is beyond me.

Johnny Byrne has cottoned on to how blinkered our fans are years ago though; nowadays, he just says things like "Yeaaaahh, the fans are calling for every little decision but we need to focus on playing better. It's just frustration, Johnny" every week

Hmm..I don't think much was said about the ref in our last 2 poor home games ..Saturday was a tad different ...not the reason for our defeat that was down to the teams failure to take chances ..but the guy was poor IMHO

On the radio, the boos and "outrage" at every decision that goes against us comes through loud and clear - and only when we are playing badly. Over the last few weeks the crowd sounded pretty much the same as Saturday. If Crofts/Hammond/Mackail-Smith had scored there wouldn't even be a thread here about the referee.

I'd agree re the players who failed to score and there being no thread..but regarding the boo's and actually being at the games ..Saturday was in a class of its own

This. I don't think I have never gone so mental about a referee's decision in my life.

No contact, wasn't two-footed, I didn't think it was excessive, brilliant interception in my book.

I lost my shit when he gave that, a sliding interception on a loose ball a yard away from any oppo player. My brother reckoned it was actually given against el-abd who blocked off emnes when he'd touched it off and tried to spin into space. Not sure myself, but that and the lino giving an offside from a throw last season are the two occasions when I've nearly had an aneuryism screaming at the officials to sort their f***ing lives out.

You can tell that we're playing badly on the radio? Wow.
