we walked through the red light at about 10am once- let's just say they didn't have their First Team out
awful!
most of the ones in the centre are ok though, but my mate had a GO on one and said it was WELL expensive

Was in Holland the other week. They've recently introduced a smoking ban there, but it only applies to tobacco not weed. So you can still smoke a joint inside, so long as its pure cannabis. Apparently (I think this is bollocks) they have paid officers that can tell from the smell whether said joint is pure or not.

this is rubbish recently been over there. it isnt put in place at all as i had alot of people who work in the coffee shops having a fag next to me. basically there i signs up everywhere telling you its not allowed as its a legal requirement but its completly ignored and not just by tourists.

The law came into force last July. But it's widely ignored (also in some bars) because the fine for getting caught (for the owners/landlords) is only something like €250. Last I heard they (parliament) were discussing raising the fine (if they haven't already) to something more meaningful like €2,500 a pop, with closure for repeat offenders, to try and get people's attention.
A publican friend of mine (a heavy smoker) in Eindhoven was on Dutch TV last week whingeing about it. He phoned two of my mates 10 minutes beforehand to tell them to get down there so they could appear as 'background punters'...

surely there economy would plumit? not aware of how much income they get from it but it seems to me they just simply couldnt afford to ban it. i have been there alot and from my experience i would say 70% of tourists go there for 2 reasons cannabis and whores
