At what point does one "become" British then? If you're born here, speak English, raised here and lived here all your life, but have parents who are of foreign origin, how long before you're allowed to be considered British? How many generations?

Would the Hitman consider any children of Amir Khan British? After all, their grandparents would still be "foreign". What about Khan's grandchildren? Are they British enough for you?

Many of us in the South particularly will be ultimately descended from the Normans who invaded in 1066. Bloody FRENCH, the lot of you

Actualy, there is little evidence for any change in the 'national' blood in any invation. The only thing that happens is the elite all get killed and changed for a new elite.

Think about it. Why kill off all you tax producers and workers?

But on the 1974 remark. Yes its abit silly. The guy is British whether we like it or not. He was born within these boarders. Otherwise are we going to call all Americans really English? Or Irish? Or Italian?

Absolutely spot on Edna. What these morons can't fathom in their tiny minds is that the people of this country originate from many different regions from all over Europe and beyond. It boils down to colour of skin and the fact that Amir doesn't have a 'British' sounding name like Smith. It also boils down to lack of cells of the brain variety.

Well done Amir!

If he had the exact same character and was called Alan Carter, this thread would be 8 pages long.

Going on the logic applied by one poster here, is Mendoza allowed to be considered British, I wonder? ???

Kevin Pietersen = South African
Amir Khan = British

Thread closed.

exactly....peiterson, trott etc are qualified to play a sport for England due to the country's rules on residency....Amir is qualified to fight for England/Britain because he is BRITISH and was born here.

I cant believe wankers like \stevie Boy are still allowed on this board....

I never want to see someone from Britain beat but he is the exception to the rule. Hope he gets battered , cocky little b.....d
Am i missing something here ? if we were talking about naseem hamed i could understand the attitude , he was/is a horrrible little shit, but ive never thought amir khan particularly arrogant, having sad that ,all the while he still wears a gumshield in pakistani colours i will have my suspicions that covering himself in the union jack is nothing more than a marketing ploy, happy to be proved wrong though, while i am not known for my 'liberal' views, i would like to ask the likes of stevie boy if he considers Nigel Benn british ?( the bloke that was in the british army !) and what about the blacks in the army out in afghan at the moment ?

Isn't Khan a muslim ? Probably explains why not fully accepted in the UK

Boxing wise was a big turning point for him last night. That Prescott incident is dead and burried now. Has always had the skills and has now answered the biggest Q against him. Not sure he would beat Mayweather yet though

Stoo82 - "Has anyone ever changed their mind becuase of a 16 page thread on NSC?"

Actually I did once. I opened up a thread complaining about the Amex name. Before I knew it there were about 4 pages worth of comments of people lining up to tell me I was a nutjob and precisely why I was a nutjob. In the end, I had to concede that I was, indeed, a nutjob and that I really ought to get over myself.

Lesson learned.
