I'm sure I remember them saying that both the club and betting company's don't actually make any money from betting booths at stadiums and that they mainly do it for advertising the company so the club felt better to make them into more beer and pie stalls and make more money that way.

I asked that question on the stadium tour. I was told it was something to do with not being able to find a betting partner (whatever that means). Possibly a gambling licence.
I bet I'm right.

Ladbrokes were deffinitely interested when it was first mentioned, but Coral are the betting partner of the football league so the powers that be wanted it to be them. Why they didn't take it up, or why it wasn't offered to Ladbrokes when (presumably) Corals said no, I don't know. All I know is that Ladbrokes wanted it, didn't get it and then opened up the new West Street shop.
