It is a fact that America has never won a war where they fought alone (and yes I include WW2 against the Japanese)) History tells us that corn fed yanks are pretty poor, and our superbly trained and capable soldiers are hampered by them?. Or at worst killed by them. When was the last time that UK soldiers killed an American in "Friendly Fire"

Somewhat misguided opinion there. Try to remember that without the intervention of the Americans we could very well be speaking German. A lot Americans died for our freedom. As far as 'Friendly Fire' goes you have a point but on the other hand we did a pretty good job ourselves in World War One before the Americans got involved.

Well my late father-in-law was a D-Day veteran who fought with the Guards Armoured Division all the way from Normandy to Germany and according to him every time they saw an American aircraft everyone took cover......

I think you are forgetting their stunning success in Grenada. Although I suppose they did have assistance from a couple of small Caribbean islands.

I doubt it. Without the sacrifices of the Russians, that might well be true. But the USA's intervention was never enough to win WWII.

How was it misguided if he said 'America never won a war alone' and you gave WWII as evidence? Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for when it come to the Americans helping us out, but they are too trigger happy and a couple of friends in the services have agreed with me.

Just out of interest, you seem to be very pro-america. What is your tie up with them?

I think you are forgetting their stunning success in Grenada. Although I suppose they did have assistance from a couple of small Caribbean islands.

They nearly cocked it up there as well . They got pinned down while their radios stopped working and it was only down to a marine making a telephone credit card call from a payphone back to his military base in the States that saved them as he was able to give co-ordinates for air support.

Heavily armed and blazing away whether or not there were any opponents.

I think that you will find that was the ENGLISH civil war in the 1600's

There was a skirmish in the caribbean between them and the Spanish, but the Spanish Navy blew themselves up...so not really a win for the U.S.A

The Spanish - American War in 1898 lasted 109 days. The Americans wanted to see an end to Spanish imperial interest in Cuba and its other territories. They didn't fight the Spanish on their own as the US had Cuba and the Philippines as allies. At the end of this conflict the Treaty of Paris was signed which ceded Puerto Rico , the Philippines and Guam to the US. Cuba was occupied by the Americans until 1902.

U.S. troops are shite, unless murdering civillians and inflicting "blue on blue" incidents on your "allies" is a mark of prowess.

Oh, and has been said the war in Europe was won by the Red Army.
