Conscription sounds like a good idea("Bring back National Service! That'll show the youth of today"..etc), but to be quite honest when I was in the army, we didn't want the hassle of having a bunch of whinging tossers who wanted their mums/playstations undermining the morale and effectiveness of the unit.

Why the f*** should the army have to take the dross of society, just because our law and order system is so bloody flawed and toothless that pondlife can continue breaking the law then spend a few weeks painting some school or doing some gardening as a "punishment" :censored:

CONSCRIPTION SHOULD NEVER BE BROUGHT BACK!!

As per one of my earlier threads, this would damage our reputation as one of the worlds leading forces, certain people do not want to serve in the forces and will refuse to Soldier.

This will damage morale for those who want to be there and the forces reputation as a whole.

when you sign up you know what you are letting yourself in for arent you.

So stop Fcuking whinging and get behind them and support the Forces wherever they are.

That doesn't make any sense at all. You may have known what you were letting yourself in for, and you may have wanted it, but why do the rest of us have to support you in your decision? I wasn't asked if any of the lads being blown up should join up, and I sure as hell wasn't asked whether I thought they should be sent out to be blown up (and to kill, for that matter). You won't catch me 'whinging' about THEM - I come from a Forces family, I grew up in Forces towns - but I sure as hell will complain about the bastards who have ordered this ridiculous war.

And besides, I don't think everybody who signs up did know that they would be letting themselves in for this. Quite a lot didn't think they would be signing up for the kind of nonsense which is going in Iraq right now. Every single person I know who is in the Forces (and there's a lot of 'em) are even angrier than I am - they signed up to help defend their country, they did not sign up for a war of conquest ordered by a foreign power.

Good point there.

Society is so soft these days, but how else would you sort these wasters out tho?

Send then all to an Unhabited Island of Scotland somewhere for a year to let them serve there time (Rock All would be my favourite for them!)

Conscription will just turn angry teenage louts into angry teenage louts who know how to kill

Conscription doesn't work. People who want to join the army will join it.

So when they signed the dotted line they were told they wouldnt be firing that gun or tracking that missile etc that the Goverment has spent all that money training them up for.

Im sorry but I dont agree with you there,at the end of the day when you sign up you must know at the end of the day you are going to fight if the worse comes to the worse, thats your job and it is what you are being paid for.

Sounds harsh but that is the reality of it.

I think what fatbadger was saying was (and forgive me if I am wrong fatbadger) that was whilst he would support our forces, he will not support the people/reasons for them being there.

That is 3 of us at least( plus Yorkie of course)

It just pisses me off that people are quick enough to knock our Forces and they all sit at home saying pull them out of wherever they are,but when you sign up you know what you are letting yourself in for arent you.

So stop Fcuking whinging and get behind them and support the Forces wherever they are.

If they did bring in Conscription in this Country it would be a great idea as it would sort out all these Lazy do nothing wankers who do nothing but sponge of the system:censored:

Rant over!!

I'm not a do nothing wanker.
I'm a f***ing writer and thinker. And i think that's quite f***ing good enough.

Many people have many different reasons for joining up.

The ones that want to fight, you will find will join the army or a front line force ie: Marines, Paras, tank Regiment etc etc

I joined to travel the world and was a chef :lolol: Knowing this was not a trade I would be sent front line.

Others join coz they live in areas where there is no work!

But if I was joining for pride of my country then I wouldnt be too happy about being sent ot the Hell or political shite that is going on in Iraq just so each country (UK and US) can line their pockets!
