I think Lallana is out of contract in the summer. If he retires, leaves, joins coaching staff, etc, Alzate fits right back in hopefully with a full season with a decent (I think?) Championship outfit.

There is also a chance Caicedo goes, so another potential midfield spot.

aren’t loans from EPL TO EFL still allowed for a period of time after transfer window shuts???

No same window I think. Looks like West Brom didn’t get the paperwork done in time

Hadn’t realised they didn’t qualify.

Not sure the relevance of the 50 appearances? As the need for football would have been to make the squad for Qatar, however, I remain disappointed he’s out on loan,(if it happened)

Also sorry Zac Emmerson departing.

I meant he’s had 50 appearances, 43 in the PL so had a fair chance with us

He's 24 next week and played nearly 50 games in the prem so he has had his developement mostly and this is where he is at.

Still useful as a sqaud player but he hasn't pushed on like we all hoped.

Upper championship / lower prem is probably his level , and thats bloody good

Very classy player in CM. His debut against Bristol Rovers showed that his true position is central mid. Shame he has been used out of position so often.

No announcement from either side this is done.

WBA failed to submit the paper work for Josh Onamah loan from Fulham in time and are appealing it. Not said anything about Alzate.

Looks like it is either a late announcement, an appeal over paperwork, late paperwork or an issue in the medical.

Everyone is being quiet about this loan for now.

By the way... IF the deal has collapsed Alzate still has a few days to join a Belgium club.... for example USG.

Yes not just AN. Looking like the paperwork not done for Alzate and one other WBA target

If it was one player hey might be able to blame the other club. But TWO!? Someone at WBA is going to be carpeted

Both extremely last minute. So much so Alzate could only get to a medical in London to try and meet the cut off.

Sounds like poor planning but I wonder if it prevented another move for Alzate ?

Good news.

Hope he takes the reprieve with both hands, when he gets his chance.

After Lallana, the most technically gifted midfielder at the club.

Very much my take on it too, and the last of those Premier League appearances was a fair while ago now. At 23 he should be making more progress than he is.

More to this than meets the eye me thinks.
