Focus on another Colombian at Goodison
It’s already been quite the ride for Steven Alzate. Born in Camden to Colombian parents, the midfielder came through Leyton Orient – after a successful loan spell at Swindon, he made his Premier League debut for Brighton a year ago, at left wing-back versus Newcastle, and was named man of the match. He made his international debut for Colombia shortly afterwards, and was given the No 10 shirt in the following match, with James Rodríguez injured. This season, the 22-year-old has started every league game for Brighton in central midfield and will come face-to-face with Rodríguez this weekend in a trip to Everton, as two form teams meet at Goodison. Alzate has got quite the package: South American flair combined with a steel forged in League Two. He is young, composed, versatile and could go right to the top. MB

I'm amazed it's taken this long for him to get a bit of recognition from the national media. The boy is absolute quality, a genuinely special talent who I love watching play. He's equally as talented and promising as Lamptey.

I was unsure about Alzate last season, thinking he might not have the phyisicality for a CM position and him being used in a variety of different positions.

I'm glad to say that he's proven me wrong and his partnership with Bissouma in the middle is looking great. He looks to be more mature and definitely able to hold himself in the middle of the park. If he can add a shot to his arsenal, then he could become a really key player for us and worth a great deal of money.

It seems that our performances against Chelsea,Newcastle, and the first Man Utd game have finally started being noticed by the main stream media. Tariq Lamptey has started the season leaving some serious talent in his wake, and the attention this has brought, has meant that Brighton is started to be looked at in a more positive light, I have yet to see any of the "experts" relegating us, and even though Sky commentators still cant yet bring themselves to mention our players by name, the other broadcasters seem to realise we aren't the same team that we were last year and we are now rightly considered to be one of the teams that could start to bother the top half of the table.

It will of course only take one bad performance to put us firmly back in the relegation pack, but I actually think the tide is turning regarding how we are seen by the media and other teams fans
