He turned the job down originally when Sparky Hughes left Blackburn, and applied for that job. Obviously he wasn't succesful there so later decided to accept the first offer.

Good news for Twente. So not only have they got a manager who is utter gash, but also one who doesn't really want to be there, and would rather have gone to Blackburn. Chuck in a bit of overachievement by the previous boss, and what a great season in prospect.

I feel a bit sorry for Twente, their stadium is near my family home in Holland and I used to really enjoy going there - nice club.

I wouldn't say it's a dead cert the world's ultimate middle-manager will fail there. He's pretty much unproven as a club manager, although you can't say he did a good job at Middlesboogie. It was more his unwarranted bravado and relentless posturing that pissed me off. And his face, obviously.
