But if the blind trust is only for one year, then presumably the 'owner' is still, in reality, the one in charge?
They’re not usually time-bound, they are either simply revocable or irrevocable. They’re also pretty ineffective as the settlor will already know what’s in the trust so will make decisions (outside of the trust) on that basis, and will also set out the trust rules/objectives for the trustees to follow. I can’t see in football club ownership terms to circumvent multi-club conflicts of interests it’s anything other than a sham to get around the conflict rule. No-one would be surprised to hear that blind trusts are a favourite vehicle for politicians who need to ‘avoid’ conflicts of interest 🙄

What’s fishy about plaice-ing control of a club into a blind trust?

What’s that saying about monkeys, typewriters and Shakespeare?

The NSC version would be if you had an infinite amount of threads and an infinite amount of posters, eventually every thread would descend into fish puns.

Shakespeare? I can’t decide if this angling pun is intended?

I’m both pleased and slightly surprised you know about Shakespeare in that context. Do you fish?
As a child growing up in Newhaven yes, sea but I did try freshwater a few times. A friend, his father and I used to fish off the breakwaters either side of the harbour mouth. I remember the warmer months were good, mackerel were relatively easier to catch. I stopped in my early teens. I did have an idea of getting back into it about ten years back, I briefly met an enthusiast who had a boat and offered a trip, but the opportunity passed.

If my memory serves me correctly, you're freshwater?

Ok - I hadn’t realised. Nice.

Yes, exclusively freshwater. 90% rivers. Within that, 60% barbel specimen hunting (PB now 16lb 9oz), 20% chalk stream dry fly for brownies, 20% wet fly for salmon.

Don’t get out as much as I’d like to or used to - maybe 2 sessions a month?
