For many (many) years it's been Waterloo Sunset - but perhaps now it's "Forever Young" (Joan Baez version)

Sympathy For the Devil - The Rolling Stones.

I dread to think how many times I have listened to this since I first found it in my father's collection a few decades ago. It still excites me as much as when I first heard it. I love the rhythm, groove and lyrics. And the opening line takes a lot of beating: Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste. Indeed.

There are so many I really love but I suppose Hotel California by the Eagles has got to be my all-time fave. Great lyrics and fabulous instrumentals.

I like the decades approach:

50's: It Doesn't Matter Anymore - Buddy Holly
60's: You Never Give Me Your Money - Beatles
70's: Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
80's: Man In The Mirror - MJJ
90's: The Universal - Blur
00's: Dare - Gorillaz

50's: Only You (The Platters) (Otherwise Runaround Sue by Dion but I think that's 60's - just)
60's: Simply too much good music to pick one.
70's: Lyin' Eyes (The Eagles)
80's: Start Me Up (Rolling Stones)
90's: Tender - Blur
00's: Sweet Talk - Killers
