Castaway - I love Tom Hanks in this, really gets me.

The definition of your all time fav film must be a film that you can watch many times over any given period of time without it getting lacklustre or jaded in any way with similar enjoyment to the very 1st time you ever saw it....am I incorrect in this statement??


If so, the only problem with having a thriller or a drama as your all time fav is that when you know the twist or know how the film ends, some of the initial excitement from the first watch & drama must go surely?

Same with anything comedic....very funny the first time, moderately funny the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th time and then it's not so funny.

At least with a quality musical, as long as you like the tune(s) you can watch it over & over & still get the same pleasure, same as watching a concert DVD of your favourite band.

On your criteria , you make a very good point. But in my favourite I have to disagree as I love the Life of Brian (part of the enjoyment is the anticipation of whats coming next, even though /especially because you know)

I would also nominate Godfather 2 .

I was a fan of Henry Kelly's Heroes. It was a 3-hour epic spin-off to his behind the scenes life in the mansion he and some of the Going for Gold contestants bought together. It all kicks off when Bjorn is found in bed with Karl and Thierry's lucky mascot is returned to him poo-flecked.

I was a fan of Henry Kelly's Heroes. It was a 3-hour epic spin-off to his behind the scenes life in the mansion he and some of the Going for Gold contestants bought together. It all kicks off when Bjorn is found in bed with Karl and Thierry's lucky mascot is returned to him poo-flecked.

Ah you mean this one..........

Henry Kelly climbed to the top of the tree
He was only four or five
He took his big wheel to the top of the tree and tried to take a ride
Henry Kelly fell and screamed like hell as his body bounced off the branches
He fell from the top of the tree to the ground and there wasn't a tooth left in his mouth when he landed

And the grown ups said "Oh Henry, Henry Kelly don't you see you could have died?"
But the kids said "Henry Kelly you're our hero
You can't tell if somethings possible if you don't try"

Henry Kelly waited for his big teethe to grow in
Then he grew up and he is fine
And unless you've heard the story told you might not even notice that he has a crooked smile
So all you kids with over protective parents now listen here to me
Go out and try stuff, get dirty, get hurt, don't be so scared of everything

And the grown ups said "Oh Henry Henry Kelly don't you see you could have died?"
But the kids said "Henry Kelly you're our hero
Can't tell if somethings possible if you don't try"

Kids need to see that kids can be kids and maybe get hurt sometimes
They might break some bones or lose some teeth but they hardly ever die
I hope that legends still get passed from kid to kid these days
About the crazy stunts tried by other kids both long ago and far away

Like the one about girl that made a plastic parachute
Jumped off the roof and broke her knees
Or how Gerald McGuire lost one of his balls when he flipped his A TV

Or how Henry Kelly climbed to the top of the tree

Personally I love 1930's-1950's Films, especially Powell and Pressburger such as the Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, A Canterbury Tale and my absolute favourite ever film A Matter of Life and Death.

Interesting no-one has yet mentioned the perennial Film Critics favourite either?
