Not really as my son was told by a member of Cox family that he was going to a premiership club and then he was offered a much improved extention to his contract, which he signed very recently and I would suspect that the same thing happened with Lynch, although I do not know for certain, the club offered the new improved contracts in an attempt to (a) keep them here a bit longer (b) increase their value.

Good work by the club but it is fairly certain that had they not offered the improved contracts the players concerned would most probably have become unsettled with speculation and left at the earliest opportunity.

There's only two players who have signed new contracts and that is Lynch and Robinson.

Funny how we hit a poor run of form just as the transfer window was looming large, now it is starting to close again we win at Chesterfield and I fancy us to beat Vale tomorrow...coincidence?
In which case ... I can only conclude that his ability to deliver the right result to order means that Dean Wilkins must be the BEST MANAGER THAT ENGLISH FOOTBALL HAS EVER SEEN.

Mind you ... When Abramovich decides to sack Mourinho, we'll be in deep doodoo.

Alternatively ... it's a coincidence.

Not sure any of them are good enough. Lynch loses his concentration at some point during every game and Cox had to have a couple of weeks off because he couldn't cope with playing week in week out. If they were good enough we wouldn't need to be offered very much money to let them go.
if brighton had been offered decent money then they would be on there way! but the fact is that we are an old div 3 team in a relegation fight and probably they are not an attractive proposition to other teams!
times are bad at the moment so lets concentrate on bringing players in rather then worrying about them going!

that doesn't sound right though does it?

you're a young footballer earning not a lot and hear that premiership clubs are after you.

you obviously want to play in the premiership but you sign an extension to a "much-improved contract" ......from a club who can't afford to sign scott mcgleish for 18 months....

When they signed their deals we weren't in for McGleish. You can't beat the club with that stick.

I would say it is more like the club offering improved terms is a win win situation for the players. They get more money regardless, and by tying them up in a longer contract the club can hopefully demand more cash for them if someone does come knocking at Dick's door.

BensGrandad talking out of his wrinkly arse. Now there's a suprise.

Except that he is not and by the way I go to watch the team more than 5 or 6 times a year.

Do you know anything about the club or football in general or even go to many games?

I can't see any one of our youngsters cutting it in a higher division. They struggle in this one FFS!
