I'm f***ing delighted I've been proved wrong about Coxy and the others.

I didn't want them to go, I was just reporting what I had heard.

Let's hope we don't end up in League Two with those players whereas if we had sold them we could have stayed up, eh.

that's all:clap:

Not really as my son was told by a member of Cox family that he was going to a premiership club and then he was offered a much improved extention to his contract, which he signed very recently and I would suspect that the same thing happened with Lynch, although I do not know for certain, the club offered the new improved contracts in an attempt to (a) keep them here a bit longer (b) increase their value.

Good work by the club but it is fairly certain that had they not offered the improved contracts the players concerned would most probably have become unsettled with speculation and left at the earliest opportunity.

As opposed to becoming complacent as a result of the 'improved terms' offered, and consequently losing the cutting edge we saw from them both at the start of the season.

that doesn't sound right though does it?

you're a young footballer earning not a lot and hear that premiership clubs are after you.

you obviously want to play in the premiership but you sign an extension to a "much-improved contract" ......from a club who can't afford to sign scott mcgleish for 18 months....

Don't look at all silly thank you.

If we keep them all that is what we all wanted, but didin't think would happed. I would still be suprised if none of them go in that last few days of the window, but I will be delighted if they all stay.

Could it not be a case of playing and learning your trade better in a first team of a Div 1 side with the added bonus that if you improve the terms offered or the choice of clubs would be better in say 1 or 2 years time, bearing in mind that neither of them are yet 20, as opposed to playing in a reserve team or worse still signing for a club in relegation trouble.

Not sure any of them are good enough. Lynch loses his concentration at some point during every game and Cox had to have a couple of weeks off because he couldn't cope with playing week in week out. If they were good enough we wouldn't need to be offered very much money to let them go.

certainly could be, but i know what the average 20 year old would do, i think, which suggests to me there have been no offers

Funny how we hit a poor run of form just as the transfer window was looming large, now it is starting to close again we win at Chesterfield and I fancy us to beat Vale tomorrow...coincidence?

couldnt agree more, thats why we call him 'liability lynch'. If we had got 500k from stoke for him we should have accepted, that money could have bought us a couple of decent players or at least got some decent loanee's in?

I think it's very sporting of the likes of Dean Cox- it's patently obvious from their recent form that none of them wanted to leave the club, and they've been deliberately playing below par in order to scare off those nasty, predatory, higher-level clubs.

Well done Coxy, Jake, et al, a fiendishly cunning plan, but now the window's almost closed, I think it's safe for you to start playing proper football again.

Please.

I do think we overhyped our youngsters current talents and their ability to perform at a higher level.
I am of that opinion too, lets face if they were good enough and any offer came in they would be gone.
