I really think Trossard and he will become the most talked about players we have in time - Trossard next season and Macca shortly afterwards. The transition must be difficult - everything is new and as young men ( I know Trossard is mid-twenties) its not necessarily straightforward to adapt to a new life and cope with moving from a place where everyone is confident in you, to one where everyone is waiting for you to prove yourself. Add to that the fact that Macca has joined at the trickiest part of the season, where we have had less possession in many games, backs against the wall (or behind it vs. Man City/Utd) he has shown flashes that will grow with nurturing and experience.

I agree about Trossard - in fact, if someone started one of these threads for the new season - Which Albion player do you think will surprise us most in the coming season? - my contribution would be "Leandro Trossard". I think he has great technical ability and it's very promising that after the lockdown he has had a significant impact. Let's hope he can build further on that in the new campaign.

You can see he's got quality - touch, vision and technique - anyone writing him off at this stage doesn't have a clue.

This little run of games will have done him a lot of good and as he spends more time in this country and league he will only get better. I'm really excited about him and expect by the second half of next season we could see something really special.

I like him. he's a midfielder who is comfortable with the ball at his feet, actually likes to get forward and attack, isn't likely to kill a bystander with one of his shots and can keep up with our strikers. we seem to have a dearth that kind of player, I think we'll soon see that he offers something that our other midfielders don't

I would say our style of play (to survive) post Arsenal has been contributory to his performance.

I would even say some of the players are not on the same wave length as him and his vision (which he clearly has) isn’t being tapped into.

He’s effective in a one touch give and go environment as long as it’s reciprocated.

For Burnely I would like to see a formation in a diamond

I would also want to see Lamptey start and used to overlap and exploit this as well. Against Newcastle he took up some great positions and was isolated and we lacked the vision to use him.


I’m sure I will get slated for March but I do consider himself technically gifted and with the right players and formation could Be useful.

I totally agree, there have been several times over the last few games that passes have deemed gone astray by commentators, however I could totally see where he was playing the ball into space and a member of our team has not seen his vision and opportunity to get beyond the backspace. I would even say he is to attack minded, that when he sees space beyond the defenders others are not only on the same wavelength they are not astute enough or willing to take that risk....

OK, it's a different level but there are parallels with Ian Mellor back in the day. Spider had a top class footballing brain but when he got here, none of the players were on his wavelength. Then along came Wardy and it all clicked.

We already have him i think in Neal Maupay, I think he has the speed and brain, they just need a normal close season to work on feeding off each other, sadly we won't have that time this close season due to circumstances, but you can tell they can work together....

The fact is he's a kid in a new continent, league and club. Let's give him some time and see what we've got. I think it's a bit daft to suggest he's shown signs of being great (he really hasn't) but it's too early to say he won't become a useful addition.

His time at Boca and earning Argentinian caps means that he's no slouch but let's not forget he's only 21, has only been in the country 6 months and couldn't train or socialise with his teammates for 4 of those months. Not an easy adjustment period at all.

6 weeks of training with the lads and getting fully immersed in the club and Potter's ways of thinking will do him and likely Lamptey absolute wonders I'm hoping, but even then he'll likely still need some time to get up to the level we're expecting (given most players don't reach their peak until they're 27!)
