How on earth are they one of our biggest enemies? They've got nothing in common with us whatsoever, play 250 miles away, compete in totally different leagues and tournaments, and we haven't met for decades. Enemies? I see them more as a second team if anything.

Good post until the last sentence.

The only way I'd see them as the 'enemy' is because of the number of Manchester United fans INFESTING God's Own County.

When your earliest memory of a truly great player, and to this day favourite footballer ever, is KING ERIC it's kinda hard not to like them!

Not that I particularly had an affection for Liverpool (apart from when they played Borussia Moenchengladbach in the European Cup Final in 1977), mine was Kevin Keegan.

And look what happened to him in later life. Let that be a lesson to us all in hero-worship.

The result could not have happened to a nicer polite man(NOT) everyone always raves about how good a manager he is lets see him managing Wrexham or one of the lower league clubs with no money,no fans it might show him up for the absolute tosser he is.
and to quote another manager I'd love it, just love it if MANure won nothing this year and they sacked the twat.

Disagree. The man BLEEDS football and is fiercely protective of his club and his players. Last of the old school, the Shanklys and the Steins. He'll be deeply missed when he's gone. Everybody's favourite grumpy grandad. Lovely man.

By all means give him the respect that he deserves as a football manager, but calling him a 'lovely man' is stretching it too far.

I don't think so. I'd have no hesitation in calling Mark McGhee a lovely man also, irrespective of what I thought of him as a manager. I always found him to be a gentleman in the very limited contact I had with him. my friends reported much the same. These guys are who they are, and you either respect who they are, or you don't. I respect them both, as people.

From what I've seen Mark McGhee has always conducted himself as a gentleman in public - no argument there. Ferguson though is most certainly NOT a gentleman. Although he is capable of behaving thoughtfully and selflessly he's also more than capable than acting like a spoilt bully-boy and that for me means he cannot be considered a 'lovely man'.

Here's a transcript of last season's altercation with the mild-mannered Jeff Shreeves. Charming, huh?

Shreeves: 'I asked him…'

Ferguson: 'F***ing (inaudible) bastard.'

S: 'Don’t talk to me like that.'

F: 'F**k off to you.'

S: 'Don’t talk to me like that. Don’t even think about it.'

F: 'Don’t you think about it, you ****. F**k off. Right?'

S: 'Listen, are you going to do the interview in a professional manner or not? Do you want to do it or not?'

F: 'You f*****g be professional. You be professional. You’re the one.'

S: 'I’m entitled to ask… Cristiano gave the right answer.'

F: 'F***ing hell with your answers.'

S: 'Don’t talk to me like that. Go away. If you want to behave civilly, fine. Don’t talk to me like that.'

F: 'F**k off.' (door slams)

So?

That's what he does in the workplace. Agreed, absolute MONSTER, for sure. That's why none of his reserve team players will rape a shopgirl at next year's ManU Xmas party. Not cos they see it's wrong, but cos they don't fancy having their career nipped in the bud by Sir Alex.

I for one have total respect for the guy.
