Sir Paul has a covers album coming in July, Find El Dorado.

These are songs that shaped his inner world – and now, through a mix of intimate arrangements and standout collaborations with the likes of Hannah Peel, Declan O’Rourke, Robert Plant, Seckou Keita, Amelia Coburn and Noel Gallagher, he’s passing them on.

Having seen him at the Great Escape I purchased Pan Amsterdam’s album ‘Confines’. He’s a jazz musician that moved to New York and took up rapping and singing. It’s a really good album that will go relatively unnoticed as the tracks off it aren’t at all radio friendly. I think it’s great.

Also Lael Neale has a new record out, another Great Escape act I saw a couple of years ago. She has an other timely sound that is what you might call enchanting. Love it.

Got two Albums on the go today both very different, firstly SPARKS, my favourite group since childhood, massive respect for them, can’t wait to see them next month as some of their latest albums have included some fantastic songs notably Edith Piaf Said It Better as an example. I’ll give it a few listens but I’m not expecting too much from this one.

The STEREOLAB album is certainly a bit of me, I’ve only had one listen in its entirety however Spotify have been drip feeding me when I’ve just left it to play itself so I know better than I expected. Can’t wait to give it another listen as its lovely on the ears, it’ll go nicely with a few beers and a bit of sunshine.

Another massive thumbs up for the new Stereolab album. First in 15 years and thankfully their sound has not changed. Live dates in England in December. Corn Exchange 5th.

For those unfamiliar with Stereolab, from the past, I give you this.

Five songs from April and may

Rún – Terror Moon

Signed to the same label as Goat whose influences can be detected. The album version is eight minutes of heavy riffs pounding your brain and ghostly vocals flittering in and out.

Great Area - A Dream As Sweet As This

Dispassionate vocals and lo fi tape looping. Comparisons can be made with Young Marble Giants.

The New Eves - Highway Man

Brighton group's debut album is out in August and showcases a musical palette that takes adds in cellos, violins and flutes alongside your conventional four piece instruments.

Kate Stein & Lord Fascinator - Horse House

Never say no to a silly dance record

Content Provider - Overdrive

Experimental and warped electro-pop

Re: the STEREOLAB album. What do you make of this? (3 mins 10 seconds) during my my initial listens it played havoc with my OCD as I felt one track finishing and the next starting was badly produced and could have been “joined together” a lot better and smoother, however on checking the track list it’s got even WORSE! … it’s in the middle of one song. What do you think?

I’m a bit late to the party with this, anyone else familiar with YHWH Nailgun? Difficult to describe but definitely in the experimental area and at times a bit math-rock, a bit noise rock, jazz and vocals remind me of the more extreme end of Can. €19.80 for a ticket is a bargain.

This album version is an extended version of the single. I actually really like it and it doesn’t trouble me. I can see if your not expecting it you might think it’s a different song starting half way through.
Here is the version your OCD may prefer!
