I understand that they are looking to possibly play the game in the FA Youth Cup v Everton on Thursday 14th January.

Speaking of youngsters young Lewis Ide was released today a shame especially as none have had an opportunity in the reserves this season. Hopefully Lewis will go on to prove the club wrong.

Speaking of youngsters I saw another good performance from Steven Brinkhurst tonight in the Lewes game, hopefully he will get an opportunity with his pace at sometime. With such pace I am surprised he is not on the bench at times but who knows football is a funny game and youngsters dont seem to get the opportunities these days.

That's the problem with the size of our squad. We have no room for youthies breaking through. Steve Cook would have been in the squad, atleast, under Wilkins. And probably George Barker aswell, he would have had a chance by now I would have thought.

Either you have a large squad of players and no room for youth teamers breaking through, or a small squad supplemented by the youth scheme. I'd rather the latter, but we very much have the former at the moment.

In our present situation unfortunately we don't have the luxury to be able to take a punt on one of our youth players, but someone like Brinkhurst playing against fully grown men will aid his development.

promote barker, walker , redwood , dunk , strong and caskey . by doing this the club will save money and aid the development of these lads by releasing the attachments 'cling ons' at the club such as livermore.

caskey is i am sure a very good prospect but you must remember he is still only a schoolboy , but will obviously get two yrs of youth/scholarship football next season and the one after to show he has what it takes
