  • ALBION 0 CHARLTON 1
  • SECOND HALF
  • Vetokele fires in on counter raid (3)
  • Henderson makes great save from Teixeira
  • Six pages of coverage in The Argus on Monday

4:08pm
Albion have made a lively start to the half attacking the North Stand. Mackail-Smith fed off a knock down and volleyed wide on the turn, then Bennett charged into the box and rifled a shot into the side netting at Henderson’s near post.

4:05pm
What problem are you having Mikey?

4:04pm
Half time changes - Gardner on for Crofts*for the hosts while Charlton send on Simon Church for fellow striker George Tucudean.*

3:49pm
Albion were clapped off at the break.
Nathan Jones went on to the pitch to have a few words with Colunga, who was last to leave.
The Spaniard has been sharp and lively but had the chance for a home debut goal and fired it over.

3:48pm
We had two added minutes and they saw Tucudean launch an outrageous volley from out on the right which travelled at some speed and hit the side-netting at the near post. I suspect Stockdale had it covered.

3:44pm
Dunk played his side into trouble to offer Charlton a rare look at goal.
Gudmundsson, who likes to cut in left-footed off the right wing, had a go from about 25 yards and it deflected for a corner which Bruno met with a clearing header.

3:42pm
Chances have been hard to come by – but Colunga should have converted the best of them so far on 40 minutes.
Mackail-Smith ran onto Bruno’s intelligent ball behind the defence to win a corner.
The flag kick was nodded down by Dunk and Colunga, on the turn, hooked his volley over the bar.

3:34pm
The word “organised” featured large in the piece we did about Bob Peeters and Charlton in today’s Argus.
And you can see why as they make it very hard for Albion to play through them.
The hosts have just had the ball for quite a long spell and probed left and right – and back to the left again.
But they at no time looked like finding a way through.

3:26pm
The crowd raised their voices thanks to a Crofts tackle on Cousins which forced the ball into Bruno’s path.
Bruno slid a return pass to Crofts and the cross was turned behind in somewhat ungainly fashion by Buyens.
But, when the corner was cleared, Holla sent a long-range volley way over the bar.

3:21pm
Teixeira produced a great bit of skill to dance away from Jackson midway inside the Charlton half. But, as has happened a few times, the passing broke down on the edge of the Charlton box.
Colunga has just endeared himself to home fans by chasing back and sliding in to tackle Gudmundsson in front of the West Stand.
Crowd still in good heart.

3:18pm
Charlton fans are singing about being top of the league.
Their team are sitting deep, looking organised and trying to get Vetokele away on counters.*

3:17pm
Forster-Caskey was booked for a foul in the Charlton half.

3:16pm
Albion are still playing some nice stuff. Bruno shaped to cross from the right wing but instead measured a low pass into the near post area which begged for a one-touch finish from Mackail-Smith. But he tried to control and the danger as snuffed out in the six-yard box.
Bruno had the next chance but got under a volley as the ball bounced to him beyond the far post.
Albion have Mackail-Smith and Colunga both well up the pitch with Teixeira and Crofts looking to get in close support.

3:10pm
It was a very confident finish by Vetokele - and no wonder.
He now has four goals in a little more than four games in the Championship.

3:09pm
The bubble was then burst as Charlton did what Bob Peeters loves them to do – spring forward quickly on the counter.
Danger man Vetokele led the attack and tied to thread a pass into the box.
It was blocked – but the ball bounced back to VETOKELE and he drilled a superb right-foot finish across Stockdale and low just inside the post.
Albion, though, should have levelled almost immediately.
They got Teixeira into the box and his shot was somehow saved by Henderson, who seemed to be diving the wrong way.

3:05pm
The loudspeakers cut out during Sussex By The Sea so the crowd raised their voices and did it on their own.
It was unplanned but it sounded really good.
The upbeat feel was retained when Colunga produced a lovely touch to win a corner.
But then Charlton, as they love to do, sprung forward on the counter raid – and scored.

3:01pm
No change of ends.
We are under way with Albion defending the North Stand

2:57pm
Last week I said the buzz was back at the Amex.
It lives on. And has been increased by events during another good week.
The Seagulls were a touch fortunate to win at Swindon in midweek.
But they gave key playing time to several players and*secured another win.
There have also been THREE new signings since Bolton were here.
Adrian Colunga had his medical after that match and starts today, Sam Baldock and Gary Gardner are on the bench.
Here come the teams....
