Needs some serious analysis as to why you would maximise expenditure on the real estate side while minimising expenditure on the playing side. Tho suspect many of us already know the end game. And its not the Champions League.

Ideally yes.

But not every country's season starts at the same time, or even the same month. So UEFA imposed a pan-European transfer window.

PL clubs in particular wouldn't subscribe to a system whereby European clubs, who's seasons may start later, could continue to trade while for them the window was closed due to their season having started.

Good point. Didnt think of that.

This is probably the season to go large on relegation. Squad is League One threadbare. Club appears to have learnt nothing from last season. Almost like they didn't want to learn. A conspiracy theorist might almost suggest that there are huge hedged bets on the relegation that narrowly failed to pay off last season, but might well do so this season. Certainly see nothing whatsoever that suggests progress on the playing side is on the cards. ???

One imagines that the odds would have shortened considerably if that had happened....although i am sure you are just using it to make a point

Cynical and a year ago I would have dismissed this as absolute bollocks, not so confident about it now though. The silence from the top apart from Paul Barber's sound bites is a concern, well to me anyway.

There is no suggestion etc etc....

Though sometimes there's as much money - if not more - to be made by things gong down, rather than up. That's all I'm saying.

Give them till the 1st game hopefully 1/2 more will have been brought in before that ... if not then yes last seasons lessons have definitely not been taken onboard and questions would need to be aimed in the direction of the recruitment team who for once have had a stable pre-season management wise at least

Very poor squad and would certainly say we're in big trouble this coming season...Negative manager is likely and very poor attacking players so to boot.

Can't really think of 3 clubs that have a poorer squad and even rotheram will do better with no pressure unlike us....Very very disappointing recruitment yet again :)

Why when you have made such a massive cock up of a pre season and acknowledged the fact you have would you repeat it exactly 12 months later ?

I wonder when we will hear Bloom and Barber tell us not to judge them until the end of the transfer window ?
3 months to target and get the right players and they go and sign a right back to add to the other two, goalkeeper to add to the other 3.They really are clueless at recruitment and will continue to waste millions on shite last minute rejects.

Never learn

Where do you get 3 months from?

The team had scored 2 goals and gained 1 point from Hyypia's last 4 games.

The team scored 18 goals in 22 games under Hughton - 7 (seven) of those in 2 games.

Being incredibly generous to the club, that still covers almost 9 months of ineptitude in front of goal.
Yet with the next season just a few days away, and Solly March injured, once again we'll be watching a strike 'force' bereft of support.
