As I mentioned before we lost to Stockport and Brentford before MM even arrived.

The anti-McGhee faction conveniently forget that. They (the players) are clearly incapable of motivating themselves for themselves, or us. I am delighted that we've hired a tough character as manager because this group of players badly let down Bob Booker and us and a huge kick up the ass is needed for all of them (except LK). Let the kicking commence-even if it means kicking out a few of 'em!

Just spoke to my insider at the Argus. He has informed me that the players, lead by Charlie Oatway are rebelling againist Mark McGhee. They are said to be extremly unhappy with his training and fitness methods...to much of a disiplinarian.

Many of the present squad were here when Adams was in charge. Fitness and discipline were two things M.A. was hot on, so McGee's methods shouldn't come as too much of a culture shock to the likes of Charlie surely? I was friends with a Reading player during McGee's time there. The feedback I got was he was hard, but fair. Anyone who got on the wrong side of him was shown the door rapidly. Sounds to me like McGee is just continuing with those principles. In the long term, it could prove succesful if any disenters and clique leaders are shown the door. Then again, remember what happened to Brian Clough when he deserted us for Leeds all those years ago?...The players rebeled against "his" methods and he was shown the door after only eight weeks or so in charge. I don't think that will happen here though because we simply can't afford to pay McGee two years wages!

If there is any truth in this rumour, then it's absolutely no wonder that Bob Booker wasn't getting anything out of them. It would suggest they have become lazy and arrogant, believing they have done their time for the Albion and are now above reproach.

Well they are NOT. A disciplinarian is EXACTLY what they need, because despite their claims to be 'good professionals' they clearly do not have sufficient professional pride to remain in top shape without someone chasing them up.

If they don't like it they know where the door is. ANY player, and I make no exception can off if they feel being called in for extra training is unfair after the recent performances. I have absolutely no sympathy for them, and if this is their attitude, then we need a big shake, and make wholesale changes to the squad. A rotten attitude within the club does massive damage, including setting a diabolical example to the kids coming through who should see the 1st team as being ultimate professionals doing everything they can to be as fit and strong and well trained as possible.

It's perhaps a vain hope that the players would have 'volunteered' to do extra training following recent results, but to throw their toys out of the pram when it's forced upon them is just unacceptable.

Good point Gritt. If there is any truth in this rumour (which im sure there is), then it really shows the players up. If Bob Booker couldnt get control of them, of course McGhee is gunna get a hard time.

The players should be ashamed, sort it out. A decent training schedule is exactly what they need.

I hope not for Biscuit's sake (as he's a decent chap) but I for one have heard nothing since this was brought up and my mates who read the Arsegas have read nothing either.
