Albion have an expressed an interest in QPR winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, according to a source close to the player.
But The Argus understands a deal is not expected to happen.
The Seagulls reportedly want Wright-Phillips on loan.
Sunderland and Bolton are also said to be interested in the 33-year-old former Chelsea, Manchester City and England wide man.
Albion want to add a wide attacker to their squad, either before tonight's 11pm deadline or once the window re-opens for loan signings later this month.
