many moons ago after returning from a match in London, on arrival back in brighton my son claimed to be starving.

despite knowing better i listened to my then brother in law and followed him to "albion keebab house". entering the premises was enough to make my picky son discover he wasn't as hungry as he first thought.

after much persuassion from his uncle, he rather sensibly decided on a salad keebab without the salad.

attempting to convince both owner and uncle, that a pitta bread filled with a couple of slices of cucumber was enough for any small child took some doing, but is a memory i will carry for a very long time.

How soon is now?
Yep, nowt to do with anything BHA - they just thought it a good business plan to name their place after the local football team.
I wonder when they'll get their windows caved by mental Leeds supporters, or whoever.
I hear that the curry take-away (Spice Nutriment I think it's called)just a few doors away, is excellent though.

Have always favoured the equally scummy and equally as cheap kebab shop a bit further down the road, the falaffel thing's not so bad.

As for the Spice Nutriment - yes, a great take away. Can definatley recommend this place for a really good ruby

Just far enough away from LDC
very poor I'm afraid to say. Not likely to buy one from there again unless I'm very very very drunk. Which interestingly is the usual requirement to want a kebab in the first place.

In the good old days..after Busbys

Walking up West Street to find Chatanoogas Full and Uncle Sams closed and the Market Diner a bit of a hike the only place to eat was the Kebab place up by the Station and the Greek Fish & Chip shop that was on the corner. ( now gone )

Was the Albion and the Spinx the same place ??

Anyway in 1982 it was very nice !!!

The Shpinx weas further down the road, used to have a BMX bike shop underneath it!!

I used to cycle from new church road to get my kebab from there when Iwas about 14.

Kebabs are shit food, although I will have them occasional when pissed..

Not if you have a proper one with all the trimmings...Yayla, Green Lanes, North London or down the road from there at Istanbul Cafe, West Green Rd are out of this world.

Tasty, healthy and filling. The dregs of a doner kebab twisty thingy (whatever they're called) from a seedy establishment is a very different matter and as stated by Caveman, however.

The Caspian on Preston St is good and the one NMH speaks of is also WELL nice.

Flame on London Road is a recent favourite, not that I've had one it what seems like AGES.
