I thought that yesterday's game was tailor made for Albert. With his pace and skill he would have run the Gillingham back line ragged. I wonder why McGhee appears to be so reluctant to play him? Jarrett is in my view the most naturally talented player to wear the blue and white stripes since Peter Ward and I expect great things from him but he can't do much warming the bench all the time. Maybe McGhee is just bringing him on slowly but why not give him 20 mins or so in the latter stages of a game?

i think if we need to chase a game in the later stages, this is when jarrett will mostly be used.

Agree - yesterday was more about protecting what we had in the last 20 mins.

Much more a Charlie Oatway situation than an Albert Jarret one!

I don't disagree but my point was that if we used Jarrett more, and created more chances, we might not have to chase the game in the later stages.

if you look at Gills last two games they were torn apart on the right hand side, where they have been playing a center back of a simular pace to Buts!!

I thought it would have been the correct tatic to have two ball winners in the middle (as we did), proper left back and that would have given us the attacking option.

I think MM was stung by the QPR result (although they did it again this week) and went out to make sure that we didn't lose. I just get the feeling that come the end of the season we will need a few wins against the obvious relegation contenders.

However, my boss is a gills fan and we f**king won and i am sticking up 1-0 signs all around his desk. :salute:

Just shows you what do i know about coaching!!!!!!!! :lolol:

My little boy kept asking me when they were going to put Alby on. We're both fans. I explained that the game was too finely balanced - we needed to keep the point that we at that time had.

To underline this fact we dispensed with the craft of Nicholas and brought Charlie on to add ridgidity in midfield. It worked and we exceed my expectation.

Did anyone notice how we, unusually, started to play a bit after we scored (particularly Knight, who I felt was pretty slow in beating their defenders to the ball at times) rather than go into our more usual panic mode? Hammond also got really stuck in during this period and Harding's tackle to save Danny's blushes was superlative.

MM seems to prefer solidity rather than going for it... I'm therefore not that surprised that Albert gets few chances... he has plenty of time to develop tho', and I think will be a star for us in the future...
