Hope he gets well. His reading of the game was outstanding, I still remember watching a MotD in the early 80s when every player except him left the pitch covered in mud but Alan was completely clean, interceptions over tackles every time.

To be fair he used to joke and laugh about it himself.

One of my all time favourite players, a brilliant playmaker as well. Ferguson said Hansen was THE player they had to stop when Aberdeen in Europe then later ManU played Liverpool. They couldn’t. A legend. Also a brilliant golfer, obviously he chose football.
