I was chatting to someone supposedly ITK, yesterday, and they said that AI already encompasses all written and spoken human knowledge and is now in control of itself and growing exponentially, leading to a frightening mixture of good and bad potential outcomes as a result.
Relax, it mostly only knows human behaviour from what’s on the web and social media.

Well, I say ‘relax’…

growing how? writing it's own prompts, creating own material which it then read in? with hallucinations this would lead to increasingly poorer, inaccurate quality.

I've no idea, I've just related what I was told by someone who is writing a book on the subject. He said a lot of things that went over my head and that I don't remember in detail but the gist was that it could be the one of the best or the worst things that've ever happened.

There is another side-issue with the growth of AI - the sheer amount of power it consumes:

What with more and more electric cars needing charging, and the overall need to phase out fossil fuels were going to need some serious investment in power generation. A few more windmills and solar panels isn't going to be enough.

Not just power, but water to keep the underlying hardware cool:

In terms of water consumption, analysis from the University of California found that ChatGPT consumes just over one 500ml bottle of water per 100-word request. (Source)

As someone who works for an AI company, energy consumption - and its impacts - is something which I'm both aware of, and troubled by.

i cant understand why water consumption is an issue, why cant any water used in cooling be captured and recycled?

Has anyone asked AI what happened to the 1983 cup final money?
This was Grok’s reply to the question.

There’s no direct evidence in the available data of anyone specifically asking an AI about what happened to the 1983 FA Cup final money, particularly in relation to Brighton & Hove Albion’s financial situation following their loss to Manchester United. However, the question of the "missing" FA Cup final money is a notable topic among Brighton fans, as referenced in discussions on platforms like North Stand Chat, where it’s mentioned that the issue comes up frequently.

The context around the 1983 FA Cup final suggests financial turmoil for Brighton despite their remarkable run to the final. Even a victory might not have alleviated their dire financial state, which led to significant events like the sale of the Goldstone Ground and subsequent hardships. Speculation exists that the money from the final—potentially including gate receipts, bonuses, or other earnings—was either mismanaged or insufficient to prevent the club’s later financial struggles. For instance, the club’s financial difficulties culminated in a Lancashire businessman buying the club for a mere £56.25, highlighting the severity of their situation.

No specific AI interaction on this exact question is documented in the provided sources or general web data. However, the topic remains a point of curiosity among fans, with no definitive answer on the exact fate of the funds. If you’re looking for a deeper investigation, I could simulate a speculative analysis or check for more recent discussions on platforms like X—would you like me to proceed with either?[](https://wearebrighton.com/albionfeatures/what-if-smith-had-scored-in-the-1983-fa-cup-final/)

It would not surprise me if a new SMR is located close to the UK data centre. Google has recently ordered 6/7 SMR‘s for their AI data centres.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) have also bought a data centre that is nuclear powered.
