Maybe a poll on "are we bottle jobs"
Abso-bloody-exactly.A point gained. Southampton should be going home with all 3.
I don't understand this view of contentious, put yourself in Bart's shoes a cross comes in towards a player in the middle right in your eye sight do you:Abso-bloody-exactly.
Our second half was pretty dreadful and we got a very contentious offside decision in our favour.
Should have been out of sight by half time. Two dropped.
It is contentious in the sense that yes, it was the correct application of the laws (albeit a subjective one about Armstrong’s leg movement), but it is one which is very rarely applied, in real time or retroactively.I don't understand this view of contentious, put yourself in Bart's shoes a cross comes in towards a player in the middle right in your eye sight do you:
a) decide the player will have no impact on the game as he will leave the ball and look straight towards the other player or
b) think the player in the middle will make an effort to play the ball?

Except in the FL and elsewhere it would have been disallowed far quicker - as the lino flagged it as offside. It is contentious in the sense that yes, it was the correct application of the laws (albeit a subjective one about Armstrong’s leg movement), but it is one which is very rarely applied, in real time or retroactively.
There will be hundreds of such incidents in goals across the Football League and PL, and next week a similar one (or more) won’t be given.
Again I turn back the argument - if Welbeck had done that and Rutter tapped in at the far post, our fans would be incensed and saying it is a conspiracy to keep us out of the top echelons of the PL.
It was a very harsh decision based on general precedent for what constitutes interfering with play.
Well I’ve got a Swedish NSC Poster conspiracy level theory about that… I think this late flag business is a word in the ear from VAR saying “stick your flag up, it looks offside” then doing the forensic examination afterwards.Except in the FL and elsewhere it would have been disallowed far quicker - as the lino flagged it as offside.
I never want to see us play a team in the bottom 4 againThat felt like I never want to watch football again.
Until next week…
Rutters shot goes in and I think it’s a comfortable home win. Frustrating but Pedro and MoR deffo lacked match fitness..wonderful ball from Lamptey for the goal but defensively he scares me.Should have been out of sight by half time. Two dropped.
Bart Verbruggen after the match: "... I don't even really know why he gave it offside, yeah I think we got lucky there...."There was nothing contentious about the offside.
If he isn't interfering with play on the penalty spot then no one ever is. It's offside every day of the week even if the player is wearing blue and white stripes.
