I think once you pay 1 or 2 the players get the idea that ownership is going all the way and staying in the top six and players can win trophies in Brighton. Why not Brighton?

There is a massive and direct correlation between wage spend and league position. The largest clubs with huge, full stadiums and much bigger commercial income can afford the highest wages - therefore getting the best players. It’s really not complicated.
We can’t compete on income with the vast majority of teams in this league, because they’re bigger and more successful than we are.
So we have to use a model which includes developing and selling players for profit, in order to be sustainable and eventually not rely on our very generous owner pumping it tens of millions of pounds a season purely in running costs to offset our losses.
I can’t believe how thick some supporters are. We are Brighton, not Manchester United. We can’t compete without selling players.

That is true. In every major league, almost every year there is a direct correlation between wage budget and league position.
This isn't about that though.

Mate, even with the profits we have made, we still wouldn't be able to afford the wages Caicedo wanted and Trossard. Not to mention some of our playes have clauses in their contracts to match them. Leeds tried doing what you are asking. They were richer than us.
Recruitment was poor, but our head and new head of recruitment left, and we haven't recruited in a replacement yet - so concerning for this summer.
Plus, no idea why the medical department up'd and left in August, and if they've all been replaced. And how much that's impacted our injuries and season.
Our performance analyst also went to Newcastle in August. Surely every departure is part of the reason for the downturn. So much for Barber's much publicised list of ready replacements for every key person at the club!
