He was looking like a very exciting prospect and is clearly very talented. However the last few games have been very poor from him. He has regularly given the ball away and in places that have led to chances for the opposition. He has been unable to beat any players and attack the line or put in dangerous crosses. Worst of all he has looked lethargic and slow to drop back to help out the defence when possession has been lost. I still think he can be an important player for us, but can't understand why he is so poor lately.....injury?, playing to orders that doesn't suit his play,? attitude...??? Any insight to what's happened to him? (I am aware he got an assist against Wolves!)

I think it's a stamina thing. He started the season really strongly when he got on the pitch, almost all his goals and assists were pre-Christmas and he's dropped off massively in the second half of the season. It was the same last season, did well to start, then did better at AFCON and then came back and was super frustrating.

Players progress and develop at different stages and with different trajectories. Not all continue to get better and better throughout their careers. It doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong, it's just the human element.

Lots of players who show promise, unfortunately don't go on to fulfill that premise. I suspect that is what has happened here. If we can get a fee for him in the summer I suspect we'll take it. If not I reckon he'll be offered the opportunity to stay and be 4th/5th choice winger next season, or go out on loan.

We can't just stockpile players that once upon a time showed promise and made an impact in the hope that one day they come good again. He's done nothing of note this whole season really.
