You are missing an important point BG. The evidence they have against him was procured by torturing others and so would be deemed inadmissible in any court according to our - and the European conventions legal and human rights commissions rulings and - laws on these matters.

Could that work after such a longtime in this country or would he be able to claim some form of residency right due to the length of time he has been here, legally or illegally.

That's an interesting point - do other countries adhere to the ECHR to the extent we do, or it is (as we are led to believe) like Italian and French farmers and fishermen ignoring all European laws when it suits them.

The Jordanians have previous for extracting evidence. Hypothetically the lawyers could argue that even a confession or evidence obtained in the USA is inadmissible because of what they did in Guantanamo.

Deporting him would mean a £12k fine for ignoring the ECHR , which equates to a WEEK of protecting him from vigilantes and the cost of surveillance.

I dont think that it the actual monetary amount of the fine. which is a pittance, that is the problem more the question of political repercussions but I am sure they could overcome those.

This bloke will just keep using our legal aid system to fight against deportation. I wonder what the total bill of tax payers money amounts too now. That's the part that annoys me the most in all this. Add to this all the state benefits and housing we are probably giving him, because I doubt his missus is going to work. All the cuts the government is making, but we can still find the money to protect people like this, even though the majority of this country would have him out of this country on the next plane. It needs to get sorted.

What would be the actual repercussions if Theresa May order them to just put him on a plane and the Jordanians meet him when it lands what security would be needed on the plane, next to nothing just an escort.

Has he not been disputing this for that length of time ? So therefore has not been granted residency

The cost to send him by military plane to say Jordan would be minimal to the actual cost of legals that he has incurred and the cost of keeping him banged up and his family in social housing .
Just put him on the plane and face the consequences of ECHR .. America wont complain , nor will a whole load of other countries. One year from now it would all be forgotten ... Abu Who ?

I never said he hadn't, just that he hasn't been convicted of offences over there. Big difference between being suspected of committing offences and being convicted of doing so.

Of course he hasn't been convicted of offences over there, because he is over here, and not been tried. He knows what crimes he has committed, and will do anything to avoid the trip to Jordan, because he knows he will be found guilty. You sound like another do gooder to me.
