Man City the EPL title.

Spain won a World Cup without a recognised striker. I guess we took that to heart.
Both those Spain and Man City squads had something in common - starting elevens full from top to bottom with world class players.
So they didn’t necessarily clean up BECAUSE they had no recognised striker. Maybe if they had an out and out goalscorer, they’d have won even more comfortably.
For a lesser team to think “no striker” is a tactic worth pursuing is missing the point imo.
For sure, we (Albion) would benefit from a goal scoring striker. Of course we would.

Maybe, maybe not. We’ll never know.

I also completely disagree with the mindset that if you’re a lesser team you shouldn’t try things teams stacked with world class players do; or am I missing your point? Thankfully none of our players or coaching staff have this attitude and I would suggest it’s by not having this attitude we have done so well against the big 6

You are right that some of our results have been without a recognised striker, or one who scores goals at least. I would say that Is more to do with us having outstanding quality in other parts of the pitch, in particular centre midfield. If , say, we had peak Glenn Murray in the team too, I’d fancy us to do even better.

This is all ifs and buts though; we don’t have a peak Murray. The clubs approach is to not spend tens of millions on a supposedly proven striker but take calculated punts on them and also have midfielders who can score. To be fair, it’s a system which seems to be working as we have achieved our highest ever league placing and are doing okay this season. We have to remember we are Brighton and have to cut our cloth accordingly, but also smartly.

i‘m fine with this approach.

I forgot Rosenior was manager at Hull. Only realised because it was mentioned with Rooney in the crowd

Would love it if Aaron Connolly were to knuckle down and realise this is his best shot at the good life of the lottery winner. And if not? Oh well:shrug:

I sadly predict he's thrown away his potential career as a top flight footballer. He's f***ed about too much during his most crucial developmental stage.

The question for me is how far he's going to fall. If he knuckles down like you suggest, he might have a decent career in the championship... But there is every chance that he could go the same way as Leon Knight.

Sad, but probably true

He's younger than Eddie Nketiah. I don't know where I can go with this fact ... But he is.

Hang on .... Nketiah got a few games for Arsenal when Wellbeck was injured.

...erm.

Good luck to Aaron.
I still think it’s more of a case of missing talent than wasted talent.
People talk about a career in the championship.…..that’s optimistic. He will probably end up in America, and he will have a good time.

IF true I truly hope Hull and Liam are good for him. The Championship table is RIDICULOUS - Hull are down in 16th, but only 6 points off the playoffs and had (another) stonking away win today at Wigan. They've been terrific on the road and with 20 games left have it all to play for.

Rosenior won't take his bullshit attitude though. Last chance saloon before he heads off to the noddy leagues or beyond.

Exactly what I've been thinking - rampant ego, fuelled by dodgy hangers-on, flashy cars, and shagging a succession of C-list glamour model 'groupies' + diminishing effort and lack of maturity = a career wasted. Like Knight, he'll spend the rest of his footballing days slipping down the leagues or move abroad and be forgotten about (while insisting "I could have been a contender.").

Part of me thinks he'll get what he deserves and it will serve him right, and part of me is sad that so much potential has been wasted due, it seems, to a bad attitude and immaturity.

Like when a puppy misses that crucial 8 to 16 week socialisation period, after that it's months of counter conditioning as they go racing all over the park with no recall, barking at bins, and being a nuisance?

I remember Knight often stating “I used to play for Chelsea” when he was here, I wonder if we continue with our current trajectory if Aaron will be telling anyone who’ll listen “I used to play for Brighton” as he plies his trade in League One or Two in a couple of years.
