Starting to sound like we could be pretty active in the transfer window if we want to keep the names of trialists secret. Or more likely a subbing error at Amex towers!

He's Alfredo Triallista. As you'll be able to tell from his name, he's a Welshman.

Funny that in this day and age a match report is written naming one of our players as 'A Trialist', I could understand it if it was 1942..........when I read the report earlier I assumed that the club didn't want to name him so not to alert other teams of his availability. I could just be reading WAY too much into it mind, and he could just be some kid making up the numbers.

From the Brentford match report:

26 mins - Goal - Brentford 0 Brighton 2

A wonderful goal. Agdestein finds space in a similar position to where he set up the first goal and feeds the ball in between Blake and Pierre. Brighton's trialist striker is on to it like a flash and beats the advancing Moore from a tight angle. A superb finish to a well executed move.

You'd have thought someone would have asked who this chap was!

Are people on here being serious? There is a regulation whereby teh media are not allowed to publish the name of the triallists in reports or list them as goalscorers. It's not a case of no-one asking.

Other than when the Official site nearly always names the trialists who are going to and do play in our Development team?!

I don't know the detail of the regulation, but if Soccer Saturday are left giving goalscorers as A. Triallist, then I'm happy to assume it's because they are not allowed to name the player. That is far too professional an organisation to have merely "not asked" what teh players actual name is.

You've got to love the way that's written - the boy being referred to as 'A Triallist' throughout the piece and in the team line-ups at the end.

That is at the discretion of the club. I imagine they are happy to name players who they are not worried about being tracked by other clubs. There is the potential that we have a couple of players whose availability other clubs are not aware of.

I caught this picture of them celebrating the goal.
