I told a Portuguese friend that Brazilians sound like they are dancing with the language whereas the Portuguese sound more like they are chewing it.

All down to the isochrony, which gives a language its rhythm. Braz. Portuguese is syllable timed, meaning each syllable is a similar length. European Portuguese is stress timed, having syllables of varying lengths but a roughly constant duration between each stressed syllable.

I always find the Portuguese sound Russian.
