[Albion] A Thread full of better Strikers Than Neil Maupay who have moved in this transfer window

A new striker doesn't need to be better than Maupay. They need to be better than "no striker", which is a position we've left ourselves exposed to. That means any striker who isn't Locadia would be in play.

Exactly. The thread should be ‘a list of strikers better than Locadia and Connolly’. But that could be longer than the count to 500,000 thread.

Name the strikers who have scored more goals than Neal Maupay this season.

I wouldn't say 3 games is a good sample size though, how about 38 games from last season? In which case:

Harry Kane
Mohamed Salah
Bruno Fernandes
Patrick Bamford
Heung-min Son
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Jamie Vardy
Ollie Watkins
İlkay Gündoğan
Alexandre Lacazette
Kelechi Iheanacho
Danny Ings
Callum Wilson
Chris Wood
Gareth Bale
Sadio Mané
Matheus Pereira
Marcus Rashford
Wilfried Zaha
Michail Antonio
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Christian Benteke
Edinson Cavani
Anwar El Ghazi
Nicolas Pépé
Tomáš Souček
Raheem Sterling
Che Adams
Harvey Barnes
Diogo Jota
Phil Foden
Gabriel Jesus
Jesse Lingard
Riyad Mahrez
Roberto Firmino

If you take out penalties, the list almost doubles. Hope that helps!

Neil Maupay who we are now relying on as our main striker scored 5 goals from open play last season. FIVE of which 2 were in the first five games.

To suggest there aren’t Championship strikers who couldn’t improve on that is laughable.

How many of them could we realistically afford and would also be willing to come to BHA? Asking for a friend.

Nice, let’s have a swipe at our best forward and run him down as not being good enough

Just MAYBE he needs some help and not from a player who seldom plays more than two full 90 mins or a youngster who does appear to be out of his depth. Looks like he won’t be getting any more help this season so plenty of opportunities coming up to keep slagging him off

Pretty well every forward in the PL who scored more goals also had a decent strike partner who played with him regularly, not a bonus that Neal had that often

Which is exactly why questions need asking if we fail to sign that partner, again. Whether you rate Maupay or not, it has been eight years since we signed a prolific striker. During that time we have been a top end Championship team or a member of the most expensive/attractive league in the world in all bar one season. Our recruitment teams apparent failure is shocking, let’s hope they pull something out of the bag today.

I doubt it is an exaggeration to say EVERYONE who counts themselves as a Brighton fan is disappointed we haven't improved our forward options. It is really easy to throw names about, but look through the options on this thread and there were very few realistic options to support the view that the recruitment team screwed up. If this was the number one objective at least for us fans then it was a fail.

A quick look at the players moved on and loaned out shows fantastic results, the possibility of Locadia going to Turkey would be the icing on the cake and gives us more options in future transfer windows.

The three recruited for the first team all look useful additions (although the keeper is more of an unknown quantity) and the three for the future all look promising.

I think we are stronger than last season. We have a young squad, many of whom have gained experience at this level and built an understanding of what the manager wants from them. Maupay has had a good start to the season and I thought he was one of our better performers on Saturday. We beat Man City at the end of last season, with zero recognised strikers, so despite all the hand wringing I don't think we are exactly in crisis.

Since we have been in the PL signing a good striker has been a problem, within those 4 years our recruitment team, supposedly excellent at finding younger players at a good value, we could have signed:

Patrick Bamford
Ollie Watkins
Danny Ings
Callum Wilson
Chris Wood
Matheus Pereira
Michail Antonio
Anwar El Ghazi
Tomáš Souček
Che Adams
