How do you work out accumulator odds ?
Example, if I put on a 4 match accumulator with odds of

5/4
Evens
9/2
6/4

then what mathematical formula/equation do I use to work out what the overall odds come out as for that bet ? If anyone knows, can you please explain it step-by-step. Pretend I am a 6 year old who is bottom of his maths class (but I don't want punishing or anything).

Fanks.

:)

In theory, that should be one and a quarter, multiplied by one, mulitplied by four and a half, multiplied by one and a half = 8.4375.

8.4375/1

However, that's the formula. If you are talking bookies, don't they multiply everything, then partially multiply one, add the other, throw them up in the air to see how they land, then blindfoldly stick a pin into a Snakes & Ladders board and use that number as the odds?

I assume it is

£1 => £2.25 (winnings + stake) => £5 => £27.50 => £68.75

I presume that you know how to work out single odds. Divide the stake by the number below the line, multiply it by the number above the line, and add your original stake back in (don't pick you nose!)

Think of it as four single bets, but you put all your returns on the next bet.

£40 at 5/4 = £90

£90 at evens = £180

£180 at 9/2 = £990

£990 at 6/4 = £2,475

And stop wriggling around on your seat.

Naah, its GOT to be longer odds than that. 4 matches, none of them odds-on, and one of them longer than 4/1 on its own ? I'd expect better than just over 8/1 for that.

Your 2nd theory carries more weight.

9/4 x 2/1 x 11/2 x 10/4 = 61.875/1

(can you see what I've done there?)

a successful investment of £1 would return £61.88

£1 @ 5/4 = £1.25 win + £1 stake = £2.25

£2.25 @ evens = £2.25 win + £2.25 stake = £4.50 (oops went wrong on last post)

£4.50 @ 9/2 = £20.25 + £4.50 stake = £24.75

£24.75 @ 6/4 = £37.13 + £24.75 stake = £61.90p

So approx overall odds of 60/1

£1.00 @ 5/4 = £2.25

£2.25 @ 1/1= £4.50

£4.50 @ 9/2 = £24.75

£24.75 @ 6/4 = £61.88

5/4
1/1
9/2
6/4
acca
£61.88

they are independent events so simply multiply out the odds

£ 1

5/4 = £ 2.25 stake plus 125%
e = £ 4.50 - 2 x
9/2 = £ 24.75 - 5.5 x
6/4 = £ 61.87 - 2.50 x
