For god's sake, the guy has always had this point of view when it comes to Thatcher. He hardly needs to align himself with a group.

It's a particular type of protest poem. It does its job. It's not going to win any poetry competitions, but it hasn't been written with that in mind has it?

Good plagiarism in your final paragraph by the way. I always loved that line too.

That is my opinion - I'm just sick and tired of this trendy ****ing **** from people who think its appropriate to take some tired old shit from years back and try and make out it is still relevant.

Anyone who celebrates when someone dies is a little pathetic.

It says far more about them than the person whose death they are celebrating. Personally I'd have her back tomorrow in a flash - clearly that wouldnot go down with most on here but who cares.

Let's see:

Oy Maggie. Your boobs are saggy
And now you're dead in bed
In the Ritz with saggy tits
And a fanny like the closed down pits
I can think of nothing worse
Except for Atilla's verse

Job done. Invoice in the post. EJ Thribb eat your heart out.

Quite good. Took you 28 mins though.
On balance Atilla's is slightly better (albeit two days' work I suspect)

At least Atila can use it as material during a gig unlike some of the other posts

Archer told me what a big Thatcher fan he was at one of our 'meetings'. Thatcher created the kind of world where *******s like Archer could thrive. Just to put my loathing in a football context, like.

Some amusing ripostes there - I dish out flak and can take it, won't ever stay in a Leftie ghetto preaching to the converted, each to his/her own, up the Albion, see you at Boro X2.

Oh, and the bit of modern football I'm against is the bit where it prices loads of loyal fans out of going to games with ludicrously high ticket prices , pays ludicrous salaries to rubbish players, denies us who love to stand (legally) the opportunity to do so, introduces a huge increase in parachute payments in the top flight while simultaneously bringing in the Financial Fair Play regulations - a total contradiction in terms .......

A HELLISH ENCOUNTER

The furnaces were roaring
With a foul and sulphurous smell
The damned were being tortured –
Just another day in Hell.
The air was full of ghastly screams
And soul-destroying moans
When above the dreadful clamour
Rose some shrill suburban tones…

‘So messy! And so smelly!
And so awfully, awfully hot!
And all you do is torture –
That puts nothing in the pot!
I’ll close down all your furnaces
Your unproductive ways
And build a brand new call centre –
A Purgatory that pays!’

The Devil dropped his pitchfork
And put on his coat and hat.
‘I don’t mind facing Jesus
But I can’t compete with that!’
But the damned and all the goblins
Pleaded ‘Lucifer, don’t go!’
Stay and help us in our fight -
Better the Devil that we know!’

So they voted him shop steward
And he led a demonstration
While Thatcher glared and tutted
In mad, impotent frustration.
Then they made some massive banners
In huge letters: ‘COAL NOT DOLE’!
‘NOT ONE SINGLE FURNACE CLOSURE!’
‘GO TO HEAVEN, TORY TROLL!’

Now Tomas de Torquemada
Held a centuries-old position
As editor of Hell’s newspaper:
The Daily Inquisition.
So Thatcher went to him and said
‘I need some press support.
It always does my bidding.
Here’s some text for your report!’

But Tomas said ‘Eees complicated -
‘Satan ees my mate!
You know I’ve serve him faithfully
Since 1498…’
So she yelled upstairs to Murdoch:
‘Rupert, time for you to die!
I need you down here urgently!’
But there was no reply.

Then the Devil came in glory
Brian Clough at his right hand
And in tones to shatter marble
Thundered: ‘Margaret, you are banned!
Hell’s a worker-run collective
Self-sufficient, closely-knit.
We don’t need your poxy meddling.
I condemn you to the pit!

But, first, I’ll reunite you
With the one you love the most.
He was hiding in the coal hole.
He was dressed up as a ghost.
Said he DIDN’T WANT to see you!
Said to PLEASE keep him away!
But you’re here now, aren’t you, Denis?
Bid your lady wife good day…..

They were loaded in the lift shaft
And soon they were gone from sight
And heading for an awful place
Of pain and endless night
And you’re not going to believe this
‘Twas such awful, rotten luck -
But half way down the endless pit
The Thatchers’ lift got stuck...

So fight for social justice
And build a better world
And bury her foul legacy
With red banners unfurled
And heed the final message
Of this cautionary verse
Or you could end up like Denis.

I can think of nothing worse.
For someone who was able to buy a nice big house off Southwick Green at the height of the Tories 'Britain deserves to be a nation of homeowners' regime, you don't half spout some crap at times.

The words Champagne and socialist spring to mind. In that order.

You're wasting your time here, unless you were around in the 80's and saw what she did to the miners and other working class people you wouldn't know which is why you get the clueless comments on here and other forums.

May the disgusting old hag rot in hell

Just like Billy Bragg however he is sadly more successful

Buying a personal residence disqualifies one from leaning to the left how exactly? Further selling off council houses was nothing to do with making us a nation of home owners.

The evidence keeps stacking up that despite the intellectual aspirations you really are hard of thinking.

There was an old bag from Grantham,
Selling off council houses, snatching milk and screwing the working man was her anthem,
She was an evil witch,
Who had a stroke at The Ritz,
And at the weekend I shall crack open the champagne and drink some.

What amazes me is that attila only has 7 post mentions...well it's 8 now.

There's too many of Thatchers little wizards on here to make a splash with that verse. I've forwarded it to Mr. John Dowie though...he'll like it.

More context is needed. She did give the police a 100% rise, so while Scargill was a vainglorious google 35% isnt as much as it may seem.
Besides the strikes were about pit closures.

Oh spawn of Thatcher, Mark
Inbued with all your mother's dark

actually this is trickier than I thought, kindly add something about him being an generally evil arms dealer and coup plotter and only less evil than Pol Pot, Kim Jong-Il, Skeletor, because he wasn't as successful as he had hoped.
