A Falmer dilema

I was passing the Falmer farm shop yesterday and happened to notice that they were selling bags of wood that I happened to need and were reasonably priced. I stood there for a good five minutes trying to make myself go in and buy them but my feet were stuck firmly outside the shop and in the end I left.
I know a lot of you probably wouldn't go near the the place but I would like to think that I'm better than the petty Falmer residents and the Falmer issue shouldn't really affect me in that way. However, my brain knew better and wouldn't let me do it. Who was right? Me or my brain?

brighton, actually
go on, go in, wearing your albion shirt, and se what they say...

dilemma #2- when saturday (at falmer!) comes... are we gonna boycott the pub there, or go in and support the local community in a civilised way..? I can't see how the landlord would turn away all those thirsty fans...

I have a feeling that the pub will be "locals only" on Matchdays

Of course he won't. He gave them all tea on the bridge that time. He wants it really. He just doesn't want to lose face whilst the future is uncertain. Keep the locals happy at the moment, when the stadium goes through go along with the fans.
For me its a question of do you rise above their mentality and show you couldn't give a toss about their objections or do you get all bitter and twisted and think screw them and vow never to do anything to help them.

The guy who runs the farm shop at Falmer is the farmer who farms the field that will be partly lost when the stadium is built.

He gave evidence at the Public Inquiry (against the stadium, unsurprisingly), But I was quite impressed with the realism with which he was facing up to the future. No hysteria from this guy, just a clear statement that he'd have to move on and find a tenancy somewhere else.

I see no reason not to buy bags of wood from him. The people in Falmer who deserve no sympathy are those who will not be affected in any way by the stadium.

Sounds like a reasonable bloke. I didn't know the shop was his but at the time if I had I probably would have been even less likely to go in there. It was just a gut reaction that I shouldn't help these tossers. There was no rational thought involved.

I would hope the club will have a fecking massive members bar at the ground so that the money goes to the right place, not some twat who's spent the last few years opposing the ground.

Lord B.

Do you know if there has been a vote by village residents alone, For or Against the stadium and what the outcome was?

I would think it's harsh to assume that all of them are against it. I would be surprised if they are.

The shop isn't exactly an A.O.N.B is it.

No. I think the gravel parking space out the front might be though.

Wanting bags of wood. Do you live in a shack in the country without electricity?

I surprised you use money.

Why not offer them a bag of manure for the wood chips?

Who cares as there will be bars at the stadium when Falmer is completed.

Yeah, send the Cardiff fans to the Swan. That'll learn em.
