Why can't we perform for more than about 20 mins a game?

It seems we struggle and did for most of last season to play more than 20 mins quality and much less than 90 mins full concentration football. Of course the opposition will always have purple patches but we seem to suffer more than most teams from letting teams back into the game.

Why do you reckon this is. Multiple choices as there may well be more than 1 reason

Edit forgot to tick multiple votes permitted box :dunce:

What about the Gillingham game, did we not play well for 90 minutes then?

Or are you saying - why can't we dominate a game and make no mistakes for 90 minutes?

No, didn't go, just going on SCR commentary and what I saw quite a few times last season, especially early games. Are you saying we have played a good 90 mins for all three games this season on what you've seen then? If so, maybe I am getting the wrong impression from what hawsey and Budgie say during commentary.

Just look at the match fact's for the Gills game, they dominated, and aside from poor finishing and some good goalkeeping by the short Irish one it could have been a very different result I think.

Forgot an option - not closing players down well enough?

Well, we certainly played very well for about 50 minutes yesterday.

It's a shame our confidence was deflated by the first Brentford goal that was completely against the run of play, but that will happen, the idea that you can dominate for the entire 90 against a team on our level like Brentford is fanciful.

Certainly I would much preferred to be a Brighton fan than a Brentford one yesterday, they got lucky because we screwed up at the end but our overall play remains tremendously encouraging. Certainly in the first half, we played much better than in many of the games I remember from the 2003-4 promotion season.

You were at a different game to me then. They had 2 shots on target and nearly stole a point at the end. We dominated.

Yesterday was our worst performance of the season and even then we played well for 25 mins and very well in other places> Inconsistent? Yes. Promising? Certainly.

Put it this way, we're unbeaten and have 7 out of 9 points - it doesn't flatter us. We probably deserved the draw yesterday for playing so poorly for most of the second half.

unless a team is a country mile better than their opposition, then they will not dominate for the full 90 mins. thats is just not how football works.

But containing a team you have been outplaying then punishing them on the break should be possible now and then. I struggle to remember Brighton doing that in the last few seasons. We seem to sit back when we take the lead and always seem to have costly lapses of concentration and no real counter attacking punch. I can remember LOADS of teams doing it to us, as an example Crewe seem to do it to us everytime we play them.

Disagree - More of a case of not making subs soon enough when the other team is on top.

I was not there yesterday, my son went though, I just wondered whytake Jake off with 5 mins to go and disrupt the team. It happened at Elland rd last year when we were 3-2 up and on comes Charlie in the 90th minute and then we concede because the team loses shape. Yes it wastes a few seconds but it disrupts the feel of the team when its just doine for the sake of it
